Atlanta’s R&B Soul Picnic in Piedmont Park From 11:00 am-10:00pm Great weekend fun
Vast park in the heart of Atlanta designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, architect of NYC's Central Park. Areas of interest include multiple playgrounds, ball fields, workout equipment, tennis courts (require reservation), splash pad, pool (Memorial Day - Labor Day, $5pp), dog park, and large lawns for events, picnics, and play. Home to the Atlanta Jazz Festival (Memorial Day Weekend) and many other festivals. There is a farmers market held in the park at the 12th Street entrance every Saturday morning. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is adjacent to the park (tickets required for entry). Very limited street parking nearby, as well as a paid parking deck.

The most famous downtown Atlanta Park. Has many outdoor concerts, walking trails, and lakes.
One of my favorite parks in Atl. Great place to take a walk and there are several festivals from spring thru fall. About a 10 mins drive via Moreland.
3-min drive (.9 miles) to Piedmont Park. Info: Piedmont Park is an urban park in Atlanta, Georgia, located about 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Downtown, between the Midtown and Virginia Highland neighborhoods. Originally the land was owned by Dr. Benjamin Walker, who used it as his out-of-town gentleman's farm and residence. He sold the land in 1887 to the Gentlemen's Driving Club (later renamed the Piedmont Driving Club), who wanted to establish an exclusive club and racing ground for horse enthusiasts. The Driving Club entered an agreement with the Piedmont Exposition Company, headed by prominent Atlantan Charles A. Collier, to use the land for fairs and expositions and later gave the park its name.
