St. John: Excellent, upscale dining experience in St. John. Reservations recommended.

After a beautiful sunset ferry ride to St. John, this is a great spot for any couple that wants to share a special night out.

Beautiful setting for a romantic, pricey, in-town dinner that leans modern Italian. Will likely need reservations. We like sitting at the bar and making a meal of the starters.

Yes, it's a ferry ride away but so worth it. Reservations a must. No view per say except a beautiful restaurant. Excellent service, excellent food quality and selection. It's our high end dining choice.

“The Longboard serves great specialty drinks to sip at the bar while watching old surfing videos. Our favorite is The Cane Garden. These folks were generous after Hurricane Irma and supplied hot meals for the community. We love to support them and we make up reasons to go to Cruz Bay to eat their wonderful food.”

Grocery or Supermarket
“Cruz Bay. At the traffic circle, take the first exit directly to the right of the straight up hill (that would take you to Route 10 / Centerline Road). You will end up on a one way side street where there will a church on your right. Proceed straight down this road, and down a hill, then the Starfish Market will be on your left. Biggest grocery store on island. Within the store there is a meat & seafood section and deli for freshly made sandwiches, hot entrees, pizza, bread. This is a shopping complex called the Marketplace that not only has a grocery store, but other shops including: a pharmacy called Chelsea Drug, and deli called Sam and Jacks. ”

“Alex, who will be your host is actually the chef/owner of La Tapa. There is a good chance you will end up checking out!”

Point of Interest
“The Annaberg plantation is a partially restored sugar factory and windmill located just east of Mary's Point. National Park signage guides visitors through the ruins and explains the process of turning sugar cane into molasses. Volunteers and park rangers are frequently in the area to answer questions. The bake house hosts cooking demonstrations and offers samples of dumb bread. If their gardener is on duty, you can get a tour of the garden and learn about the local plants medicinal qualities. The windmill is located on Annaberg Point, which offers views of Tortola, Great Thatch Island, and the Narrows. ”

Natural Feature
“Salt Pond Bay – is secluded, beautiful, and an adventurer’s dream. A quarter of a mile hike downhill (uphill on the way back) takes you to Salt Pond Bay which is a top destination for snorkelers. The waves increase as you swim out so know your limits; there is a rocky outcrop to the right with good snorkeling. When you are done swimming, you can hike 2.2 miles round trip to the immense Ram’s Head Point that offers incredible views (you can see St Croix on a clear day) and sunsets. There is a port-a-potty at Salt Pond Bay.”
