Whether it’s North America’s longest cascading fountain or the vibrant drum circle that gathers every Sunday, there’s plenty to capture at Meridian Hill Park in Columbia Heights. The terrazzo walls will transport you (and your followers) from the nation’s capital to a European city with just one…

Take some time to explore this urban oasis, with its elaborate gardens, cascading fountains and Joan of Arc statue. Situated near the Columbia Heights neighborhood, Meridian Hill was first a mansion, then a camp for Union soldiers, and eventually, an Italianate-style garden. Today, the park serves…

Such a chill vibe here. Bring some wine and a picnic from Trader Joe’s. On Sundays from 5-8 there is a great drum circle— you can’t miss it.

Lovely park on a hill with a view down on to DC. Drum circle on Sundays is fun! Often overlooked gem.

“B&P is one of my faves especially when I am with a group of people that have several dietary restrictions. There is something on the menu for everyone. My favorites are the nicoise salad and any breakfast item. All locations have a small bookstore and the original location ( 1 metro stop away at U Street/Cardozo or a 20-minute walk), has cozy chairs where you can just sip your coffee and check e-mail.”

“Located just down Monroe Street, I’m at The Coupe at least once a week! They do coffee and pastries to-go ($3-$5), as well as sit down breakfast ($15pp), lunch, and dinner. It’s pretty big so there isn’t usually a wait (Sometimes for brunch), and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out! ”
