Originally started in 2005, Placewares now stars a new chapter under the ownership of design enthusiasts Shev Rush and Kevin Lane with continued operations in Gualala, an online store, a vibrant social media presence, and a second location in Los Angeles. It carries products sporting iconic designs from iittala, Marimekko, Heller, Chemex, Alessi, Normann Copenhagen, Bodum, and Chilewich. An adjacent gallery space sports a rotating mix of local California artists as well as internationally celebrated artists with works housed in the permanent collections of MOMA, Tate Modern, Art Institute of Chicago, LACMA, MOCA, SFMOMA, and The Menil Collection, among others.

This is one of the cutest stores in Gualala. They have everything from art to Marimekko dresses to beautiful things for your dining table and home. A must visit when you are in town.

Really cool less-is-more housewares/design store owned by a local couple. Great place to stock up on unique gifts for people, or yourself. Think Helvetica.
