Opening Hours: 06.00-20.00 The temple was original built by King Phayu back in year 1345 to host the ashes of his lated father. The complex took today's name in year 1367 when Phra Singh Buddha statue was taken the permanent place there. The temple was then abandoned for a couple of centuries, during the Burmese rule . Its restoration finally completed in 1920s. The Real attraction of this temple is the smaller Lai Kam worship hall behind it. It is the great example of Lanna architecture, especially the signature roof design meant to represent a bird's wings. Opening Hours: 7.00-17.00 Wat Umong (Umong means tunnel in Thai) is among the oldest temples in the city. The temple was constructed by the Lanna King Mengrai, the founder of Chiang Mai. According to legend, there was a monk in a temple in Chiang Mai named Thera Chan whom the king regularly consulted with. As the city grew in size and became increasingly busy the monk could hardly find a quiet place to meditate. The king had Wat Umong built on the outskirts of town near the base of Doi Suthep so that the monk could meditate in peace inside the tunnel.
