Once a visitor sees the tallest and, many say, loveliest waterfall in all of its glory, it will long remain engrained in the memory as one of the most impressive natural scenes. Half a kilometre downstream from Brljan, where the river makes a sharp turn, Manojlovac slap emerges. This waterfall is the largest and is considered by many to be the most beautiful waterfall of the Krka River. The waterfall is made up of a series of travertine barriers with a total height of 59.6 metres; the largest barrier is 32.2 metres high. The cascades are approximately 500 metres in length, with a width of around 80 metres. Travertine formations on the waterfall are most represented by beard-like tufts and small caves.

Due to its primordial simplicity and mystical inaccessibility, the locals called it the Altar. Rošnjak is the smallest of the Krka waterfalls. One kilometre downstream from the Manojlovac slap, where the canyon is deeper and narrower, hidden in pristine nature, is the smallest waterfall on the Krka River: Rošnjak (Sondovjel or Šundovi).

On the left bank of the river, just under the waterfall, is the Miljacka hydroelectric plant, the largest on the Krka River. Its construction began in 1904 and, until 1910, it was the most powerful hydroelectric plant in Europe. One kilometre downstream from Rošnjak, squeezed in the riverbed between tall cliffs overgrown with lush sub-Mediterranean vegetation, is the Miljacka slap cascade. It is made up of three larger and numerous smaller travertine steps with a total height of 23,8 meters.

Loveliest in the spring with the new green leaves and the lush vegetation has not yet covered the travertine cascades. Two kilometers downstream from Bilušića buk, at the canyon’s exit, the Krka River widens into the 400 meter wide and 1300 metre long Ćorić Lake (Bjelober, Brljan Lake). The lake emerged, in part, from the growth of the travertine barriers at the Brljan barrier, and in large part from the construction of a concrete dam constructed at Brljan for the needs of the Miljacka hydroelectric plant.

The first of seven cascades along the course of the Krka River. Though damaged, this cascade today is still very noisy and attractive, as it is the only one not impacted by the utilization of the river's water to produce energy. The first of seven cascades on the course of the Krka River is Bilušića buk. The falls are found wedged in a canyon approximately 16 km downstream from the source, specifically 9 km downstream from Knin, at an altitude of 214 m above sea level. The appearance of the waterfall and current has been changed on four occasions, when dynamite was used to stop flooding in the Knin Field (in 1834, 1895, 1953 and 1954).

Čikola River, 46 kilometers long, is the longest tributary of Krka. What makes it unique is its diverse nature: it springs under the Svilaja Mountain nearby villages Mirlović polje and Čavoglave, continues to quietly flow through Petrovo polje (Petrovo field), and entering the canyon -in the last part of its course -it turns into a flood, sometimes forming small lakes, and following the canyon flows into Krka. Approximately 13 km of the water flow and the Čikola River Canyon - from the end of Petrovo Field to the border of National Park "Krka", has been protected as an important natural landscape since 1967.

Burnum or Burnum Municipium, an archaeological site, was a Roman Legion camp and town. It is located 2,5 km north of Kistanje (near NP Krka), in inland Dalmatia, Croatia. The remains include a praetorium, the foundations of several rooms, the amphitheatre and the aqueduct. Burnum is also popularly called Hollow Church (Šuplja Crkva) and is one of many ruins in the Balkans identified in folklore as Traianus' Town (Trojanov Grad). Only two of the original five arches have been preserved (at the end of the 18th century Alberto Fortis mentioned three of them).

The Krka Monastery (Holy Archangel), the spiritual centre of the Orthodox faith, stands 3,5 km east of Kistanje, in a bay on the Krka River. Erected on the foundations of an earlier Eremite monastery, it was first mentioned in the written records in 1402, as the endowment of Jelena Šubić. A church built in the Byzantine style stands next to the monastery. Below the church there are ancient Roman catacombs, which are open to visitors. The monastery was named after the Krka River, which abounds here in plant and animal species, thanks to the water which provides them with life and the peace that is assured due to man’s absence.

Ključica is the largest and best preserved medieval fortress in Krka National Park. It was erected by the Croatian noble Nelipić family in the 13th century over the canyon of the Čikola River in order to protect their estate from their rivals, the noble Šubić family. Due to its strategic position, Ključica was often a source of conflict for its masters, the Šibenčani. In 1546, it was conquered by the Turks who ruled here until 1648 when they were finally forced out. Since then, Ključica has been abandoned and no one ever lived here again.

The ruins of the medieval fortress Kamičak stand between Roški slap and Visovac Lake. According to preserved historical records from 1345, the Croato-Hungarian King Ludovik confirmed the heritage right of Ivan Nelipić over Kamičak. The later Turkish invasions and their occupation of the entire area meant the loss of the significance of Kamičak, and it was abandoned. Kamičak is also called Utješinovića Grad by the locals, as the first Croatian Cardinal Juraj Utješinović was born here in 1482. Also born here was Marko Mišljenović, who was appointed Croatian Ban by the Croato-Hungarian King Ladislav in 1506.

The ruins of the medieval fortress Bogočin can be seen on the left bank of the Krka River, on a high rock near the village of Bogatić. It was likely erected by the Croatian noble Nelipić family, while later it was ruled over by the great Martinušić family. A single, excellently preserved medieval road lead to Bogočin, and the fortress could only be entered via a drawbridge. In the early 16th century, it was taken over by the Turks and remained in Turkish hands until 1684.

The medieval fortress of Trošenj was raised opposite the fortress of Nečven, on the right bank of the Krka River. It was once under the possession of the great Croatian Šubić family, who ruled over the entire right bank of the Krka River. It was likely erected to guard and control the strategically important bridge over the river. The Turkish army took over Trošenj in 1522, where they housed their military units, and built a rounded tower. The invasion of the Venetian army to these regions in 1686 ousted the Turks, and the majority of the fortress was destroyed.

The parish church of St. George is located on Primošten's hilltop with a beautiful view. It was built in the 15th century, precisely in 1485, and was rebuilt several times to its current appearance. This is a beautiful three-nave church, built of stone, with a simple facade, and at the very top of the church there is a cross. Next to the church you can see the bell tower and the old cemetery. In the past, the church had five altars, and today it has only two – the altar of St. John of Trogir and the altar of Our Lady of Loreto. The oldest was the altar of the famous Christian martyr St. George, which was demolished in 1963.
