A favorite of Reno residents, it is at a high elevation which sometimes means it has better snow late in the season. I prefer Diamond Peak, but Rose is nice too.

This is a great place for sledding along the side of the Mount Rose Highway. There are steep areas, be careful. There are also trailheads for hiking and mountain biking. Then you go to the beach kiosk to pay the daily fee ($15 for adults, $6 for kids 6-17, kids 5 and under free). This beach does not have pool, but it's better for wading in the lake in bare feet (Burnt Cedar Beach's wading area is rocky). Also, you can launch a boat here if you pay the $18 fee and get the inspection done offsite (google that, it's a bit of a pain but worth it if you have a boat).
