If you want to visit an authentic country store, it's worth the drive to Ripton. They still used the old brass cash register, sit by the pot bellied stove and yep, folks still come to get their mail out of the tiny brass mail boxes in the corner. You can buy a neighbor's jar of pickles or a local artist's note cards.
