Authentic pizza and pasta, along with a great feel and friendly, efficient staff. My favourite is the 'Mt. Warning' pizza - try it if you like it spicy. Pizza Paradiso is located just a few minutes walk from Byron Beech Pad - in the Suffolk Park village shops on Clifford Street - we're lucky to have them so close. Pizza Paradiso has live music every Friday and Saturday night and, if you're lucky, you may get to experience your host Katrina there as piano-vocalist. An occasion NOT to be missed!!

The Doma Cafe in Federal has become a magnet for locals, day-trippers, and people travelling through the hinterland en route to Nimbin or Lismore. Doma consistently serves up some of the best Japanese fare on offer. Everything from the heartiness of the miso soup through to the hand rolled cones and high quality produce is just delicious. There are also home-made burgers (meat and vegetarian), hot chips, and a daily specials board to choose from. Aside from a small traditional Japanese doma room, seating is mostly outside. It gets pretty busy during lunchtime, especially on weekends, so patience is needed during peak periods. The wait is always worth it...

If you're after a 40 minute drive through some beautiful countryside with a real treat of a cafe/restaurant at the end of the drive as we did today, then The Spotted Pig is an ideal destination. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll tell you of the route that we took, as Airbnb don't provide enough space to spell it out here. They operate in an old timber/weatherboard Church and have a delicious menu from 7am til 2pm Wednesday-Sunday, and for occasional themed dinners (with reservations required for the dinners).

Captain Cook named it Mount Warning in 1770, but to the Aboriginal community, it's a sacred place known as Wollumbin. The Wollumbin National Park had a few recognised hikes - the strenuous 5-6 hour summit track, and the shorter, easier, child-friendly Lyrebird track. Because of its elevation and its proximity to mainland Australia's most easterly point, the summit of Mount Warning receives the first daylight of the Australian mainland each morning.

Almost in the shadow of Mt. Warning, Uki is another tiny town that comes alive on market days. The third Sunday of the month is Uki's turn to host the roving craft and produce market. The market here is not as big and comprehensive as those of Byron Bay, Bangalow and The Channon, but nevertheless it's worth a visit to this charming hinterland town. Apart from the market, there are a number of craft shops and cafés, which will both boost your collection of memorabilia and replenish your energy.

About 15 minutes' drive south of Byron Beech Pad, Pat Morton Lookout is just just south of Lennox Head just off The Coast Road on the way to Ballina. The views up the coast to Cape Byron Lighthouse, and the views south are just spectacular. This is a favourite launching site for a few of the local hang-gliding operators, which is an added spectacle if you're lucky enough to be there when they're airborne.
