Sightseeing

A definite stop for your trip to Mazatlan. The public is welcome and locals still worship there. Please be generous in your donation as this is the only means they have to upkeep the beautiful place of worship. Come for the beauty of the building, come for the intricate and detailed art, come for a moment and enjoy the peace and tranquility.

Just a short walk from our home you can catch a ferry at the port and ride to Stone Island. For only $35 pesos you can cross the harbor to a fabulous get-away location. Ferries are open air and run all day every day. Relax and enjoy the sea breeze. SPECIAL NOTE: The first stop on the way to the ferry is for locals who live on that part of the island. Make sure you stay on the ferry until the second stop.

Perfect get away from the crowds on the Malecon, Stone Island offers a tropical paradise. Thatch hut roofs, outdoor dining, walking vendors, banana boats, and so much more. Romanic walks or sand castles with the kids, it's definitely a must visit.

Food scene

We LOVE Carmelitas. If you take the ferry near our house you will take the path to the left and follow the signs to the beach. You will come out at Carmelitas. It is beautifully maintained with modern restrooms where you can change into swimwear. They offer an outdoor shower for after the swim. If you eat there you can have your table for the entire day. And you WILL want to eat there. Fried fish? Yes. Nachos with shrimp? Yes. My favorite has become the chef salad with shrimp. It's a once a week adventure for us and we never tire of it!

I can't believe it took us so long to discover this gem. Superb service, fabulous food, perfect pricing, and amazing atmosphere. It's tucked away down a long tunnel inside a little door near the Plaza Machado just across from the Angel Paralta Theater. Give it a try!

The food, the view, the service, what's not to love? Parking can be a little tricky as you only have street parking at the bottom of structure. But the walk is well worth it. You can watch the sun set on one side and the lights come on over Centro on the other. You can get your photo taken in front of the MAZATLAN sign and check out the cannon all before you head in for food. Indoor or outdoor dining. We also choose outdoor for the view and fresh air. Great service and great food. A little on the pricey side, but not bad.

Just behind our house you can have the local favorite. Indoor dining or take it to go. Either way the shrimp tacos are to die for. Handmade tortillas filled to the brim with fresh shrimp straight from the boats. You just can't beat it. And the prices are amazing!
