With some of Bergens most famous cobblestone-streets and the great Nordnes Park, you should try and take a stroll through the neighborhood. Pick up a locally produced "Nordnes Cola" and a delicious sandwich at Løvetann cafe, enjoy the view of the fjords at Nordnesparken, or take a dip in the ocean or the heated outdoor-pool at Nordnes Sjøbad. Children would love a visit to Akvariet, where you can see reptiles, penguins, seals, and even sharks in a shark-tunnel!

Sightseeing

If you visit Bergen, you have to see Bryggen. Bryggen has been around since year 1070 a.d., and the buildings you can see there today were built by the Hanseatic people in the medieval ages. Walk the ancient corridors and find small cafes and restaurants, tourist shops and amazing photo opportunities. At the Northern end of Bryggen you can also find Bryggen Museum, where you can experience Bryggen all the way back to the Viking-age. Here you will find hilarious rune-inscriptions and pots and pans from the middle-east! Only 20 minutes walk from the apartment, its worth a visit!

Verkehrsmittel

Bybane, bus, city bikes, electric scooter or taxi

Skyss.no has updated information on bus and bybane-routes. The bybane usually terminates every 10 minutes on weekdays, and more seldom on weekends. You can contact the tourist information at Torget to get help with planning your transport. The city bikes are available from March-October, and you use the "bysykkel"-app to book them. They are placed all over town and the nearest stop to the apartment is at Tollbodsallmenningen. Electric scooters are placed all over town. You have to download the brands app to use them. Taxi can be ordered at +47 07000. They speak English!

Trips with Fløybanen or Ulriksbanen, daytrips by boat

I would recommend you pre-order your trip with Fløybanen at floien.no or Ulriksbanen at ulriken643.no in advance to avoid it being sold out or standing in line for 3h. If you buy tickets in advance, you can skip the line! Daytrips by boats on the fjords should also be pre-ordered at norled.no. If you need help with a booking, feel free to send me an email or a text!

Waterproof shoes and clothes

An umbrella and a light jacket can't handle the rain in Bergen. Bring a jacket and shoes that handle rain, even if you travel during summertime. A rain poncho also works, but umbrellas usually break unless you're a native and know how to navigate the sideways winds.
Bräuche und Kultur

Norwegian culture

Norwegians can come off as "cold" or rude. We don't do small-talk very well, we're not good with queuing, we don't sit next to each other on the bus, "how are you today" is something we only ask our close friends, and we usually don't talk to strangers. However, once you get to know us we are usually pretty kind and not as "cold" as we come off. We quite enjoy foreign culture, and won't mind if you ask one of us a question, even though our answer might be a bit awkward. So don't be scared, we are "just Norwegian"!
