You can walk or bike to the kindred spirit mailbox, or continue on to the farthest point south on the North Carolina coast.

This is a great place to visit every trip. There are notebooks travelers have filled with notes inside the mailbox. It's a long walk or bike ride (a mile each way), but it's worth it.
If you walk from the Sunset Beach pier, it's 1.4 miles each way.
There is a very small but free parking area and the end of 40th Street and W Main Street. This reduces the walk/bike to 1 mile each way.
Also, PLEASE be mindful of the tides. You really only want to do this trip during low tide.

Parking at Sunset Beach
There is an excellent FREE parking lot with wheelchair access, bathrooms and outdoor showers at the Sunset Beach pier but it is small and full at peak times. There are usually spaces available in the evening, midweek and in the off season, however.
We recommend paying to park in the large lot at the pier next door, which costs $10/day and is refunded if you pay to fish at the pier.

-Please keep off the dunes.
-From Memorial Day through Labor Day, dogs are not allowed on the beach from 8am through 6pm.
-No fireworks, glass, fires or camping on the beach.
-No surfing between 32nd Street and the Atlantic Ocean on the west, or 5th Street and the Atlantic Ocean on the east.
