My property is located in the Oceanside of Summer haven island. Mantazes Inlet is the water surrounding the island connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the south end of the Matanzes River. There are lots of things to explore in walking distance. The old Matazes Fort is just a mile or so away and open to public. You will find locals having fun surfing and fishing, Beach is also very clean and has a private feels to it.

Matanzas Inlet
My property is located in the Oceanside of Summer haven island. Mantazes Inlet is the water surrounding the island connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the south end of the Matanzes River. There are lots of things to explore in walking distance. The old Matazes Fort is just a mile or so away and open to public. You will find locals having fun surfing and fishing, Beach is also very clean and has a private feels to it.
This ancient Fort is just a couple of miles away. Surrounded by hundreds acres of salt marsh, this Fort was built in 1742 by the people of Spain to guard the Matanzas Inlet, which was a mouth of Matanzas River towards the south. By so doing, they were blocking it from being used to grant access to the city of St. Augustine as a rear entry. Two years before it was built, Georgia’s Governor James Oglethorpe had used the Matanzas inlet to barricade the city before going ahead and launching a siege for thirty-nine days. Despite the city surviving the siege, it dawned on them that the inlet needed to be protected for them to secure the town.

Founded in 1565, America's oldest city-it is only 14 miles away. There are many great restaurants and shops. Columbia is one of my favorite. Not to mention walk on old cobblestone streets and ghost tours.
