A great local pizza place with a full Italian restaurant, as well. Fine food or a simple take out. You can phone ahead and go fetch pizza if you don't feel like cooking.

Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates owns this Music Roadhouse that's been in business for many years. Sometimes they have great bands you wouldn't expect to see in a small venue. Check it out and get tickets ahead of time if you see something you like. .

Parks & Nature
Wear some good hiking boots and pack a canteen and a bite to eat. It's a steep climb but worth it. Afterwards you can head to Kent for a bite and the art gallerias and shopping, etc.

A beautiful private garden that has been opened to the public. I don't know if they charge admission, but it's fairly level ground so it makes for a lovely walk. They ask you don't eat on the grounds, so bring a canteen and a Snickers, just in case.

Google "Michael Ciaiola Conservation Area Trail " to learn more about the other trails, and make sure you go to the top of the mountain. There are some great views. But as always, bring food and water and plan to get out before nightfall.

Great Hollow Nature Preserve & Ecological Research Center

Google "Michael Ciaiola Conservation Area Trail " to learn more about the other trails, and make sure you go to the top of the mountain. There are some great views. But as always, bring food and water and plan to get out before nightfall.

Bull's Bridge is a lovely, authentic covered bridge that lies along The Appalachian Trail. So you can go here and say you hiked the The Appalachian Trail. If you go south from the parking area there's flatter land. On the north side it leads to some water falls.

If you've never been to DIa:Beacon, you owe it to yourself to go. It's also great for a rainy day because it's in a HUGE old Biscuit Factory. You can walk for a couple of hours inside and not get bored. Amazing works to be seen. There's a small food shop on site, but you may want to get sandwiches/drinks and do a picnic.

Our local IGA supermarket (Independent Grocers Association). Mike is terrific and has the best hot dogs in Connecticut. There's a sandwich counter, an excellent butcher and a variety of homemade meals for convenience when you don't feel like cooking. You can get everything you need right here about 10 minutes from the house.

This is my favorite large supermarket in the area. They have good food, good deals and International and Organic sections. The butcher is good because they pride themselves of sourcing their meats.
