if you're here on the weekend the French markets are a yummy alternative to a cafe. Lots of delicious food options to eat there and take away for lunch or dinner... and it's not just all french food!

Sightseeing & Eating

perfect cafe to walk to along the water front for breakfast or lunch (it's about 2km away). Fabulous food, great coffee & wide brimmed straw hats to keep the sun off your head, or blankets to keep the chill off your knees. PERFECT spot to watch the tide change.

Beautiful day trip well worth taking! the boat ride to the island is amazing in itself. The island is fantastic. lots of great wineries and beaches. There is a bus from the ferry terminal you can use to travel around the island or moped scooters, or hire cars. you can not walk around the whole island - you will need transport.

Nothing says Mission Bay Auckland like eating an icecream on the beach. This is the BEST icecream store in Auckland and it's only 700m away.

Another beautiful, safe beach to visit for a swim and some lunch as there are a couple of great little cafes that look over the water across to Waiheke Island. Not many Auckland visitors would make the trip to Marateai but it's well worth the scenic drive if ou have time - or you could drive through it on your way south out of the city rather than drive the motor way

Sightseeing

A great short walk from our front door that has you at the top of a hill looking over the auckland harbour towards Devonport, Rangitoto Island and towards the central city district. Well worth the walk both during the day or early evening to watch the sun set. Google this historic site and learn it's significance in New Zealand's history

Perfect and very popular viewing platform to see a 360 degree view of the city. You can park the car at the bottom in Mt Eden village and walk up - well worth the walk, and when you get back down you well and truely deserve a coffee or wine at one of the many cafes

Verkehrsmittel

transport around our city

Uber is the best option! they are lower priced than taxis and always on time. Lime scooters are a fun way to travel from our home to the central city along the water front. cost = aprox $10/scooter one way. The bus is always a good cost effective option. You can walk to the bus stop on Tamaki Drive (700m away) to catch a bus into the central city. Approx $4-$5 one way.

Car parking

Car parking is expensive in the central city especially. Car park buildings are your best option so you don't have to worry about the time remaining on your parking meter. Car parking at most shopping malls is free. Some you will have to purchase something in the mall and show the ticket person your receipt.

4 seasons in 1 day

Auckland really can throw all the weather seasons at you in 1 day. It can go from sunny and warm to cold and raining so it's best to come prepared for all temperatures. But, generally: Winter is winter - cold Spring is spring - cold, rain, wind Summer is summer - warm and sunny Autumn is Autumn - cooler than summer, not as cold as winter
