Don't let google take you to the wrong location! Make sure you go to the location on 711 N. 77 Sunshine Strip for craft burgers. With an eclectic menu and a sports bar feel, this local gem is still family friendly and has burger names that will make you laugh and smile (i.e. the "Trump Burger Wall" and the "El Luchador Burger") A short 10 minute bike ride away or a quick 2 minute car ride to get to the best burgers in town.

Hands down our favorite local Mexican food restaurant. Fast, friendly service and recently renovated, their menu has all the authentic cuisine you would hope to find. Chips and salsa are FREE with your meals! This is also across the street from our World Birding Center and nature park, "Hugh Ramsey" which is great for an after dinner walk to work of the calories and see native flora and fauna.

Not to be confused with it's sister restaurant Frankie Flav'z Craft Burgers, this location serves up some of the best pit smoked BBQ south of San Antonio. Ensure you have the right location at 619 E. Harrison. Start off with the Smoked Poblano Boats and follow up with the "Pretty Pig" sandwich and some onion rings if you want to try something different. ENJOY

Be sure to ask if your stay is during one of our city concert weekend called "Blues on the Hill" which takes place at this park. It is also a great walking/jogging trail that follows the bends and curves of our Arroyo Colorado waterway. A safe spot for exercise in nature or a family walk or bike ride.

Complete with a quaint museum and gift shop, this is a must see for anyone who appreciates a little Americana and military history. Our airport, Valley International Airport, was once a military airbase. The base itself is now one of the only high school military academies in the USA, Marine Military Academy. just south of the MMA entrance sits our Iwo Jima monument. The cast to the statue that sits in Arlington, VA resides right here in Harlingen, TX. FUN FACT: The Creation When the picture was later released, sculptor Dr. Felix W. de Weldon, then on duty with the U.S. Navy, was so moved by the scene that he constructed a scale model within 48 hours, which became the symbol for the 7th and final war bond drive. After the war, Dr. de Weldon felt that the inspiring event should be depicted on a massive scale in our nation’s capital. He labored for 9.5 years to prepare a working, full-sized model from molding plaster of the survivors of the flag raising (the others having been killed in the later phases of the Iwo Jima battle) posed for the sculptor, who modeled their faces in clay. All available pictures and physical statistics of the three who had given their lives were collected and then used in the modeling of their faces. Once the statue was completed in plaster, it was carefully disassembled and trucked to Brooklyn, N.Y., for casting in bronze. After the three-year casting process, the bronze parts were trucked to Washington, D.C., for erection at Arlington National Cemetery. The plaster working model was moved to Dr. de Weldon’s summer home and studio in Newport, R.I., for storage. On Nov. 10, 1954, the 179th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially dedicated the bronze memorial in Washington. A Gift to the Marine Military Academy In October 1981, Dr. de Weldon gifted his original, full sized working model to Marine Military Academy as an inspiration to our young cadets. Other major factors involved in his site selection included: The fairly constant temperature and humidity in Harlingen were ideal for the preservation of the molding-plaster figures. The street facing the memorial was appropriately named Iwo Jima Boulevard by MMA’s founders in 1965. MMA is the only place outside of Washington, D.C., where proper honors are rendered with battalion-size dress blue parades. The Marine placing the flagpole into the ground was a South Texas native, Cpl Harlon H. Block of Weslaco, Texas. Block’s gravesite resides directly behind the monument.

Avoid Taxis: Use Uber/Lyft

Although taxis are available use either Uber or Lyft to get to and from your meetings. They are cleaner and more professional. Public transit is not readily available, so either count on those app services OR simply rent a car if you don't have your own vehicle upon arrival.
