My Favorite Beaches/Sunset spots

Crystal Cover is a big place. Stop at the Shake Shack to get your bearings and a shake (it sits up on the cliff overlooking this area)...have lunch if you can get a seat. At the far south of the beach is the best tide pools around, a restaurant, museum, and revived 20's village. To access this area, leave shake shack and uturn on pch and make your first right into the parking lot. (straight across pch from here is a road that leads down to where you will end up and they allow you to drop people off with all the beach gear if you'd rather not carry it from the parking lot) From the parking lot, there is a tunnel that goes under PCH and lets you out right near the water. The waves here are great for kids and there is an inlet where the smaller children can play safely. The Northern side of this beach is more remote and is quite a hike down to the water, but a great place for a long walk. This is a state beach and costs $15 to park, unless you have an annual pass.

After a day at Crystal Cove, this is the best sunset view in Orange County and is a great place to go hiking.

My kids love this park. We've nicknamed it "Spinner Park" as it has lots of things for the kids to spin, climb, swing, etc... It also has a full outdoor gym for adults. If you venture beyond the park outside of the cul de sac at the end of the parking lot there are lots of trails out into the flowers and along dirt trails overlooking the beach and Long Beach in the distance. It's a great sunset spot too.
