Food Scene
Gella's is a local favorite. They are actually a brewery, so if you like beer, you have to give it a try. While I'm not a beer drinker, I LOVE their homemade creme soda. They offer traditional local, German dishes as well as classic favorites. This is truly a great place to experience the "taste" of Hays.

The Golden Q is one of my favorite places to go hang out with my friends. They're open for lunch, dinner, and drink until 2 am. The food is amazing. They specialize in burgers. My favorite is the Widow-Maker. They also have a full bar with great drink specials including some local beers. They have pool tables, KENO, darts, and a back patio for when the weather is nice.

Thirsty's is perfect for groups or anyone traveling with kids. They have a very diverse menu with great food. The walls are covered in pop art memoribilia. There really is something for everyone here.

There are lots of Mexican restaurants in Hays. This is my personal favorite. They're quick and affordable and the food is always delicious.

Drinks & Nightlife
If you like country music or two-stepping, the Wild Rose is a must. The locals start pouring in around midnight, and I wouldn't suggest going any earlier than 11:30 pm, but the Wild Rose is a fun place to dance and have a few drinks.

Parks & Nature
This is a quiet little walking trail with some small fishing ponds. This is one of my favorite places to walk my dog. Watch out if it's recently rained. It can be muddy.

This park is REALLY close to my house. There are some open grassy areas, playground equipment, public restrooms, and basketball courts. This is a great local park and it's a short walk from the house.

This park is a huge chain of disk golf courses, playgrounds, river crossings, and picnis areas. There are some picturesque bridges here too. Don't forget to visit the local herd of buffalo here too. This is actually a big tourist attraction here.

Check out Downtown Hays for small local boutiques and shops. Every Saturday morning there is a farmers market.
