Suisans sells fresh fish, but also does an amazing Poke bowl for lunch. Bowls are take out. They have a few benches to sit on out side, or wander down to the bay, into the park, or over to coconut island and eat there.

Go for the day, start by visiting the visitors center. Hike Kilauea iki for a good idea of what the calderas look like from the floor. Visit the Thurston Lava tube, and don't miss the Jaggar Museum with views of Hale Ma'uma'u.

Go for the day, start by visiting the visitors center. Hike Kilauea iki for a good idea of what the calderas look like from the floor. Visit the Thurston Lava tube, and don't miss the Jaggar Museum with views of Hale Ma'uma'u.
This center offers a nice exhibit for those interested in the stars, who can't make it up to the telescopes.

Rent a bike and ride out to the lava entry point. Wear long pants. You may see some park rangers, and they can point you to lava flows up hill. Make sure you wear closed toe shoes, and bring plenty of water.

The best days for this market are Sundays and Wednesdays. There are a small number of vendors the rest of the week, but on these two days the place is jumping with activity. Many of the vendors here are also at the Maku'u Market on Saturdays.
