Yoshi's is famous for it's music from all over the world. It's an Oakland institution (there's now on in SF too)! You can also have a great meal. It's an intimate 300 person venue.

Everyone goes to Lake Merritt to walk around the lake. People will be playing music, drumming, on the water people are kayaking and rowing, there's a great restaurant overlooking the water called the Lake Chalet. Around the Lake Merritt area, there are tons of lovely shops, yoga studios, places to grab a bite and other interesting places like the Oakland Spice Shop (my favorite)!
