Essentials

There is a Supermarket in Aphrodite Hills which is good for a small shop for convenience or essential items but it is quite expensive for a large shop. This supermarket offers a very wide range of produce at cheaper prices for a weekly shop. It is on the B6 on the right as you travel from Pathos Airport to Aphrodite Hills.

Legend says that this is the birth place of Aphrodite the ancient Greek goddess of love. Aphrodite attracted a large cult following in Paphos, which was eventually crushed by the Romans. This is evident from the Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Old Paphos, Kouklia. A local myth is that any person who swims around the Aphrodite Rock will be blessed with eternal beauty.

The best and most well preserved ancient sight we have visited on Cyprus. There is also one of the best beaches and restaurants very close to this sight so you can spend the whole day in this area.

Beautiful natural unspoiled nature reserve. The best time to see flowers is in spring, between early March and end April. Outdoor activities can be enjoyed on the Akamas peninsula for most of the year - just remember to take LOTS of water with youif exploring the area in July/August - we would recommend an EARLY start and a long siesta... or a very lazy lunch ina fish taverna in Latchi! For a mountain bike excursion hire a local guide or at least a quality bike. While the highest point on the Akamas is only 350m, many of the trails have a LOT of up and down! There are several nature trails on the Akamas - pick up a guide to them at the local tourist information office (in Polis)
