One of the few elevated restaurants in Burlington – but the vide (like most things in Vermont) is quirky and casual. Amazing small mediterranean mezze plates. Great for a meal or apps and drinks. I loved their Tahini sundae!

Well-designed, cozy wine-bar with good food and informed staff. This place is a rising star with great aesthetics. If you’re into photo-worthy spots and great wine this is an amazing place for a meal or to kick off an evening. Their kitchen is tiny at this location but they manage to turn out surprisingly elevated options. They have a small lawn right on pine street with outdoor service and a small patio nearby. If you don’t want to dine-in, grab a bottle and some cheese from their market.

Food trucks in their parking lot on Friday nights in the summer. Family and dog friendly. They also make great food and have live music most nights. (Under new ownership in 2021 and I’m not sure how this will impact their Friday food truck event)

Reliably good food. It’s modeled after a French bistro so you’ll find some classic dining. Sometimes it can be underwhelming but sitting outside is nice and often their food is great. “3 to 5:30 p.m. and the last hour before closing, Church Street's Frenchiest spot offers a two-course dinner for $17.50” Go upstairs to their tiny bar/eating area for a cozy time (nice for winter)

The jewel of Burlington's food scene. If you don't want to have a full meal, cozy up to the bar or fire place. They do dollar oysters from 4 to 5 p.m. and 10 to 11 p.m. I also love eating at Hotel Vermont next door.

One of my favorite places to eat or grab a drink. This is the restaurant that’s part of Hotel Vermont, but the great design and good food has made it a local hangout. One of my favorite places for breaskfast/lunch because they have a large menu of many mix/match sides and items that lean towards the healthy/homemade style. *Only on Friday evenings. This is a memebers-only social club but it's open to the public on Fridays. Karaoke starts at 8 (this is a blue-collar type of scene). The venue is very bare-bones but it's on one of the prettiest pieces of property in Burlington, right on the lake. Drinks are really cheap and you can get no-frills food (do not come here for the food. It’s like basic burger etc) for $5-$10 and eat on the large lawn while you watch the sun go down over the mountains.

A must for those who like to walk or bike. This is the very end of the 12-mile Burlington Bike Path. You can bike all the way here from Burlington (rent bikes at Local Motion, Ski Rack, or Outdoor Gear Exchange) or you can drive to the park area and walk from there. The narrow path goes right out into the lake so you have water on both sides of you and amazing views of the mountains. * If you're an avid biker you can continue on the bike ferry (in summer months) up into the Champlain Islands). I highly recommend!

The sunset ridge trail up Mount Mansfield offers the best views above treeline on a Vermont hike. It's about a 6-7 mile hike with some scrabbling up rocks required. But the views are worth it. In the late fall/spring you will want good shoes and hiking poles are reccomended for slippery rocks at the top.
