Food Scene
Their jalapeno cream sauce is incredible, and the fried cheese cake for dessert is delicious. I've never had a bad meal here. There's room for large groups, and there's also a little bar area where you can watch sports. Wednesday night, ladies get 1/2 price drinks. They're open for lunch and dinner every day and brunch on Sunday.

Entertainment & Activities
This is in Glenwood Springs, about a 15 minute drive away. You can take a guided tour of the caves and hear about their history. There are all kinds of rides, a 4-D movie theater, a maze, and a restaurant. The Alpine Slide is really fun and not so scary. If you're looking for a thrill, try the swing that goes out over Glenwood Canyon or the Haunted Mine Drop. The views from up here are amazing!!

If you like silly comedy, this is the place to go. It's a live performance with some really talented local performers. They serve dinner before the show, and the performers wait on you. At intermission, they bring out dessert. They serve adult beverages as well. If you sit close to the stage, they might enlist you for one of their skits. It's a fun time.

Hanging Lake
Hanging Lake is a gorgeous lake located in Glenwood Canyon. It's a steep, rocky climb about 1.5 miles one-way. It's so popular, it was getting damaged by all the people, so I didn't list it earlier, but now there's a reservation and shuttle service in place, so it should be better. Here's a press release that was just sent out on how to make reservations: Contact: Lisa Langer, Director of Tourism Promotion, 970-230-9035, lisa@glenwoodchamber.com Sarah O’Brien, Public Information, City of Glenwood Springs, 970-384-6441, sarah.obrien@cogs.us Kate Jerman, Public Affairs, Forest Service, 970-945-3271, kejerman@fs.fed.us PRESS RELEASE March 27, 2019 Hanging Lake Reservations available April 1 GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO – The City of Glenwood Springs and the Forest Service partnership for Hanging Lake is pleased to announce reservations for a permit to visit Hanging Lake will be available for purchase on April 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. at www.visitglenwood.com/hanginglake. Online reservations will need to be made via a credit card. Reservations can also be made by calling 970-384-6309; groups of 20 or more need to call the Hanging Lake information line to make their reservation. Additionally, reservations can also be made in-person starting on May 1, 2019 at the Hanging Lake Welcome Center. The Hanging Lake Welcome Center will be located at 110 Wulfsohn Road in Glenwood Springs, next to the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Reservations for a permit to visit Hanging Lake will cost $12 per person. The 2019 Hanging Lake shuttle season will run from May 1 – October 31, daily, from 6:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Shuttles will depart from the Hanging Lake Welcome Center and drop visitors off at the Hanging Lake trailhead. Visitors can plan for three hours of hiking and recreation time from the time they are dropped off at the trailhead until they are picked up. If visitors would like to shorten or extend their time at Hanging Lake, they can be placed on standby for an earlier or later shuttle back to the Hanging Lake Welcome Center. Those wishing to bike/hike to Hanging Lake still need to make a reservation for a permit on www.visitglenwood.com/hanginglake. A percentage of permits have been set aside for an ‘early-bird’ biking reservation special and will be available for a special rate of $9.50 from April 1 through May 1, or until ‘early-bird’ reservations fill up. The ‘early-bird’ rate is good for any date during the 2019 season. Hanging Lake is open year-round. Those who visit Hanging Lake in the off-peak season (November 1 – April 30) will still need to obtain a permit through the reservation system for $10. During the off-peak season, visitors can bike or drive their personal vehicles to the trailhead as shuttles will not be provided during the off-peak season. Visit Glenwood Springs has developed the new Hanging Lake logo and branded materials for the new reservation system and Hanging Lake conservation efforts. The new branded materials will be prominent at the Hanging Lake Welcome Center and at other partner locations.
This paved path runs 13 miles through the beautiful Glenwood Canyon. You can walk, ride your bike, or rollerblade on it. There are several rest areas along the path where you can use the bathroom or have a picnic. You can rent bikes in town, and they'll drop you off at one end of the canyon, and you ride back to town. There are also several hiking trails in the canyon that take off from the rest areas. I've traveled all over the world, and I still think Glenwood Canyon is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

This is a short hike (about 1/4 mile) that takes you to Linwood Cemetery where Doc Holliday is supposedly buried. It's a beautiful spot, and you get a good view of Glenwood Springs from here. The cemetery is full of old graves that are interesting to look at. Around Halloween every year, the Historical Society puts on a ghost tour over several weekends. Local people dress up as historical characters and tell you their story. It's a fun and interesting event if you're here in October.

Another great trail right behind my house. It's a steep climb to the top, but then you can walk along the top the whole length of New Castle. You can ride your bike on this trail too, and the views are incredible. Last year, I saw an elk giving birth up here.

From New Castle, you can be on top of the Flat Tops in about 45 minutes. In the winter, you can snowmobile and cross-country ski. The rest of the year, it's a beautiful place to hike, camp, mountain bike, ride your ATV, horseback ride, or just drive around and take in the gorgeous views. Usually from late June through July, the wildflowers are stunning.

The falls are beautiful, and you can do some hiking in the area. If you continue past the falls, you'll come to the fish hatchery, which is free to visit, and it's fun to see all the fish. Kids really love it. A little further up the road is Rifle Mountain Park. It's a beautiful little canyon with Rifle Creek running through it. You can hike and explore the ice cave, but it's really popular for rock climbing. If you don't climb, it's just fun to watch them. There are a lot of camping spots throughout the canyon and tables for a picnic. This is one of my favorite spots in the area. Drive slowly through here, and watch for people and dogs. It can get really busy and crazy.

This is close by and really pretty. There's a small swim beach and picnic tables. It's a popular spot for fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. You can use a small trolling motor on the lake, but nothing big.

This historic old hotel is worth seeing when you're in Glenwood Springs. Teddy Roosevelt stayed here when he came to visit. The lobby is beautiful, and there's a coffee shop and restaurant inside. You could ask for a tour. I'm not sure if you can get one at any time or if they have set times.

Aspen is about an hour from New Castle. Of course you can ski the four ski areas, but it's also a cute little town just to visit. There are a lot of shops and restaurants, and I like to just sit and people watch. Who knows, you might spot a celebrity.
