Plan ahead for hikes
There are some terrific hikes in the area. On many of these hikes, you will gain a lot of elevation. The air is dry and the sun can be intense. Take plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks, warm clothes (it will get cooler the higher you climb), a rain jacket, bear spray, and other safety gear.
Local favorite hikes are Darby Canyon to Wind Cave and Coal Creek Meadow to Mesquite Ridge.
