Outdoor Activities
Walk along the canal starting at the Savannah River Rapids. This is a great place to go for a morning walk, a run (it goes all the way to downtown Augusta!!), or a nice bike ride. Additionally, there is a kayak rental place at the rapids. You can rent kayaks, float/paddle down the canal all the way to Lake Olmstead, and then they drive you back to the start!

Fishing off the dock and kayak rentals. Kayaking takes you up Bettys Branch (a side branch off of the Savannah river) - if the water is low enough there is even a sand bar to lay out on.

Our lake has two names – so don’t be confused when someone calls it J. Strom Thurmond Lake (the federal name) or Clarks Hill Lake (the Georgia name). This is a massive man-made lake at the border of Georgia and South Carolina. The lake boasts 1200 miles of shoreline, and has activities for everyone. Surrounding the lake are multiple establishments including five state parks, seven campgrounds, and other day-use parks. There are six marinas and over 20 boat ramps. Check out the website for information on picnics, boating, fishing, swimming, hunting, and much more! Most parks charge a small fee to enter, usually $5-10, and some offer a military discount.

Well, we couldn’t decide whether to classify this as dinner or nightlife - because Sole is great for both! We routinely come down for sushi then stay for drinks. If you’re interested in having a festive night, they clear out table space for a dance floor and beer pong.
