Best Burger in town! Also a super friendly bar and family restaurant. There is something for everyone at Bricks. Accomodating for groups, but they don't take reservations, so come early and be prepared to wait in the bar for a little bit. Their Ahi Lettuce Wraps and Burgers are family favorites!

An iconic Placerville favorite! The oldest Hardware store west of the Mississippi, this hardware store will fulfill your wildest dreams. Gold panning supplies, caramels, kitchen gadgets, screws and nails, hummingbird feeders, antique wrought iron hooks and a GREAT splitting axe . . . you name, they have it! This is where you find that special Christmas present for the "man who has everything".

This is hard because history is all over in Placerville and Coloma. Arts are definitely downtown Placerville, with its galleries and independent shops and artisans. History . . that's Coloma. The California Gold Rush was born in 1849 when GOLD was discovered at Sutter's Mill in Coloma. Worth checking out! The American River is right at the Gold Discovery site and an excellent place for a picnic, if it's not too hot.

Echo Lake is one of my favorite summer hikes. About 30 mins from our Cottage off hwy. 50, on the way to South Lake Tahoe. This is a good starting point for people who have some hiking experience but aren't prepared to do more than a one-day hike.
