City/town information
Tisbury, also known as Vineyard Haven, is a quaint little town on Martha's Vineyard. This is the town you will most likely arrive to by ferry. A short 5 - 8 minute walk from my home, you will find many cute shops and restaurants.

Neighborhoods
The Skiff Avenue neighborhood is a quiet area, with mainly year round residence living here. It is close enough to town to walk in yet far enough away that you are not impacted by lots of traffic and people.

A nice place to get fresh Asian Food. Do remember we love it, but if you are from San Francisco or New York where you can get amazing authentic Chinese food, it may pale in comparison.

Beaches
I have been asked about beaches a lot. Vineyard Haven is a port town in a calm harbor, therefore, we do not have beaches that have ocean waves. Owen Park in town is a lovely beach, but it is inside the Jetty so it is very calm and a great place to bring little children. Eastville is probably the closest beach to Vineyard Haven and it is lovely but most of the beach is on the lagoon and here again, it is a great place for little children but not for people looking for the ocean beach experience with nice waves. If you want the ocean experience, you will have to go to Oak Bluffs.

Bikes and Car Rentals
At 5 corners, the first intersection you come to when leaving the ferry, you will come across a car rental on the left and a bike rental across the street. If you are interested in transportation on the island, I would recommend these two places. Please, and I cannot say this stronger, do not rent a moped. Every year we have so many accidents with people on mopeds and in many cases, the lucky ones are the ones that don't survive. I would hate to have a guest of mine get injured or worse. Please do not rent mopeds.
