Best things to do in Willamette Valley

“Portland Art Museum has a fine standing collection and lots of fresh, relevant rotating exhibits. You can also enjoy a wide variety of independent and foreign films at the Whitsell Auditorium, part of the NW Film Center. The gift shop is wonderful with lots of gifts for both adults and children that will satisfy both curiosity and the discerning eye. Pay special attention to the major exhibits, they are well worth the price of admission!”

“This is an awesome museum consisting of two huge buildings full of well presented displays or actual items or excellent replicas, plus an IMAX theater. It is big draw for students and people who are interested in Aviation or Space travel . A major indoor waterpark is also part of the complex that is its own attraction.”

“This little spot is a wonderful and special place to visit. The building is gorgeous and the museum hosts many fantastic displays of local history including NW peoples, animals, botany and geology and artifacts including the worlds oldest shoes! We love this sort of thing! It's located on the U of O campus as well. We walked around alone and it took us about an hour and a half. Well worth it. ”

“Founded in 1989, Gilbert House Children’s Museum is named after Salem native, A.C. Gilbert. Gilbert was a scholar, inventor, Olympic athlete and gold medalist, entrepreneur, magician, and so much more. Gilbert’s famous Erector Sets were the inspiration for the giant outdoor Erector Set, the highlight of our 20,000 ft Outdoor Discovery Area.”
