“This is a fantastic place to go, definitely worth a trip down to the castle, just a five minute drive from here. The family still live in the castle and guided tours are available. There is also a little gift shop and tearooms. So you can relax out in the courtyard with the hens, the peacocks and the dogs. You can also have a stroll around the gardens and meet the rest of the animals. You'll really enjoy your visit. ”

Weinhandlung
“The Michelin recommended Greenacre's restaurant is one of the most popular in the South East. It is located on the ground floor, surrounded by shelves of the world’s finest wines. The ambiance is friendly and relaxed - very popular with venue during Wexford Opera. The food is prepared under the watchful eye of local Chef Ritchie Trappe and as Wexford is both an agricultural and maritime hinterland, their supplies are sourced locally. There is an award winning wine list which has is the most extensive in the Country and offers both value, and outstanding quality. Greenacre's also has a spacious art gallery with contemporary Irish art and sculpture. It is part of The Greenacres Bistro and has regular exhibitions throughout the year. It is spread over 2 floors upstairs - a nice place to peruse on a wet day or just for a coffee. Excellent local cheese sold in the deli.”

Lodging
“Kilmokea Country Manor & Gardens is situated on Great Island near Campile, New Ross where no site in Ireland can boast greater antiquity nor more general embrace by all and every invader of which our archaeology, mythology and history is aware. There is a depth of richness in the unspoilt nature of these gardens where the first Tree Fairy Village of it’s kind in Ireland attracts thousands of Fairy hunters who all adore the ever increasing avenues of fairy homes in the beautiful ancient trees growing in the woodland. The wall garden is a place of peace and reflection with rose gardens, pools and herbaceous planting. Love seats are placed around every corner waiting to provide comfort for moments of contemplation. The potager designed as a box maize grows fruit and vegetables for the big house where B&B guests enjoy home grown pleasures. Spring water cascades in series of waterfalls through the woodland garden flowing past The Viking Settlement, Norman Motte,& Smaug the tree dragon before entering ‘The Myrtle wood’ story where woodland creatures live in lanterns in the trees waiting to meet garden visitors.”

“There's a lovely newish bistro at Marlfield called THE DUCK. It has a great menu with a beautiful garden, terrace and restaurant in a converted coach house. If you're willing to splash out, go here. If you're clever with the menu and happy to have soup or just a coffee and scone, it's affordable. Service can be slow.”

Farm
“This is a great little day out for children ( best suited for 2-10 years) there are plenty of little ride on tractors, cars and bikes for the little ones to ride on and abandon before picking up another. There are farm animals to meet and touch, go karts, a maze and a nice cafe among other things. It's not huge or full of high tech but my grandchildren love it.”
