“maynard's kitchen is probably the most upscale, “fanciest” restaurant in downtown tucson. still, the atmosphere isn’t overly formal, and you can sit at the bar, or with a view of the train tracks (sounds weird, i know, but in tucson the view of the tracks is rather like the view of a river in other downtowns—at least in terms of placement). prices are a bit steeper compared to other places, but we’ve had some terrific meals here. recommended esp. if you’re looking for someplace special. maynard's market is located at the front of the building. a great, casual place for lunch. i’m surpassingly fond of the tuna salad sandwich, though the banh mi is also good. they also do evening wine tastings—you can check their website for the schedule—and have a nice range of wines for sale. there’s a great courtyard in the back with plein air dining, and with the same charming view of the tracks that you get inside, in the main restaurant. ”

“You can go out to eat downtown to the Hub, or just grab a scoop of ice cream. The restaurant is a hip design. The menu has something for everyone from sandwiches and burgers to pasta. Their ice cream menu is very elaborate, so check out their website. There is also a Hub ice cream shop across the street if you are just out for dessert. ”

“A short trip west of downtown Tucson (follow Congress under the highway) and easily accessible from Highway 10 if driving by, Sentinel Peak Park is home to the Arizona A. In a relatively quick but spectacular ascent, you can reach near the top. Pull off parking makes taking in the views easy -- perfect for photos. A parking lot nearer the top will put you close to a couple of short trails if you want to ascend higher by foot. There are informational signs about the park's history and shaded venues to sit under and take in the views of Tucson from all sides. Access is free. Public areas are a bit trashy and need some attention.”

“i offer this one with caveats. it's owned by locally famous chef janos wilder, and when janos is there, all seems to be well. we've had really great meals. when he's not however, well, not so much. that said, it has a nice little patio area out front that great for happy hour drinks and small eats. and as it's right next door to the etherton gallery, you can get an art fix as well. ”

“This store has a full service deli, bakery and butcher block. You can pretty much get anything from groceries, beauty supplies and seasonal items. Great prices and selection, located in the Campbell Plaza Shopping Center, where you'll also find several great restaurants and many different types of stores. There is a Ross, GNC, Cost Cutters and PostNet for all you shipping needs. Across the street there are several upscale stores and salons. Up and down Campbell avenue are Wells Fargo, BofA and a Chase Bank.”
