Closed Monday entrance fee charged. The park was opened in 2003, all the works are allocated in a circular plot, crossing an oak wood. The itinerary begins with the owner’s house-gallery opposite the park entrance – even the ticket office is a work of art. “To this day Pienza remains a quintessential Renaissance town. It is a time capsule of palaces, churches, piazzas and well-ordered streets. Largely re-built in 1459, when Pope Pius II, turned his hometown into Italy’s first ‘model town.’ You will also see lots shops selling of Pecorino cheese as Pienza is the pecorino-capital of Tuscany. ”

“Built to demonstrate the enormous wealth, proud independence and secular nature of Siena, this 14th-century Gothic masterpiece is the visual focal point of the Campo, itself the true heart of the city. Architecturally clever (notice how its concave facade mirrors the opposing convex curve) it has always housed the city's administration and been used as a cultural venue. Its distinctive bell tower, the Torre del Mangia, provides magnificent views to those who brave the steep climb to the top.”

“Built by order of Cosimo de' Medici in 1563, this fortified brick castle was decommissioned as a military barracks in the late-18th century and converted into a public park. It's now a popular leisure facility where locals come to relax in the garden, jog around the perimeter or meet friends for an aperitivo at Enoteca Italiana in the dungeons. There are panoramic city views from the ramparts and bastions.”
