Sublocality
“Set amid gorgeous green mountains 24km northeast of Armenia, this small town survives on coffee production, trout farming and tourists, the last drawn by its quaint streets, typical paisa architecture and its proximity to the spectacular Valle de Cocora. It was founded in 1850, and is one of the oldest towns in Quindío”

“This place has wonderful hiking trails and breathtaking landscapes. It's better to leave very early in the morning to be able to appreciate the sunrise as you approach the valley. Live your car parked at the valley and take the hiking trail on the left. Go all the way up to "Casa de la Montana", which is about 1,000mts from the valley and then keep climbing another 800 mts untill you reach "La casa de los Colibris." It's a magical experience. On your way down, take the trail that borders the river. make sure to check the waterfalls. On your way bac from Valle del Cocora, ”

“It is easy to move around the local area. Public transport here is excellent. The cities of Pereira, Armenia and touristy town of Salento are all short bus rides away. Busses run every 40 minutes. We can help you to get around and explain how the bus services work and where to jump on!”

Kirche
“The church of Salento, originally built in 1850, is a peculiar building because it is made entirely of Ceroxylon wood from the columns to the roof, which is a wood rarely used in construction. At the beginning of the 20th century, the location of the church was changed and the temple was built with two towers; however, after several earthquakes in the 1920s, it was rebuilt with a single tower. Its style is a mixture of Colonial Spanish and Colombian Naif that combine very well.”
