Best things to do in Rotorua

Wanderweg
“There are two options for walking in The Redwoods. Walk the Redwoods Grove or other longer Whakarewarewa Forest walks on the ground. Check out the options in the Redwoods Visitors Centre. The Redwoods treewalk gives a viewpoint from up the trees. This option is particularly spectacular at night, with its atmospheric lighting. I recommend getting there either before dark or late to avoid the crowds. Last entry is around 10pm.”

“Eat Street is one of Rotorua's coolest hot spots in the city. At the lake end of Tutanekai Street you will enjoy quality restaurants, cafes and bars. The covered central walkway with retractable roofing is the focal point for this all weather al fresco dining area making it ideal for year round entertainment. The thermally heated footpath and enhanced lighting gives Eat Street a unique and vibrant dining atmosphere.”

History Museum
“Te Puia spans 70 hectares within the historic Te Whakarewarewa Valley, on the edge of town. It is the home to the world famous Pohutu geyser, to mud pools, hot springs, to silica formations to the Kiwi bird and the national schools of wood carving, weaving, stone and bone carving. Te Puia shared these treasures with manuhiri (visitors) for 170 years and proudly continue that legacy today.”

Hot Spring
“It's the best place for a hot swim in a natural river setting, it's pretty unique to this geothermal area. Leave valuables (money, passport, cameras etc) behind or locked safely in your car, just take the bare minimum with you for your swim i.e. water bottle, snacks, swimwear, towel and jandals (aka flip flops, thongs). Enjoy a hot swim in a natural setting, expect an organic experience and in summer it is hugely popular. ”
