“The art museum has a great base collection and often gets great visiting exhibits. A great place to hit up on a rainy day. They also regularly show new documentary films. ”

“Best menu items are the lobster roll, oyster po boy roll. It is always incredibly busy and you can only get reservations for large parties. Try going at an odd hour, like 3 pm. Get some small bites and a drink and have a late dinner somewhere else.”

“Most picturesque cliff side lighthouse. You can enjoy a picnic, painting, walking or taking photos at this lovely lighthouse. This lighthouse is the regions #1 icon. This 1787 beacon has the distinction of being one of the most photographed in the world. ”

“This place is a must visit (although, the secret has gotten out and expect a line on weekends especially). A converted gas station, Tandem has incredible baked goods and strong coffee. No wifi here- it 's designed to be more of a social place than a place to work. ”

“Come to this historic park to see the famous Portland Headlight. Don't miss the old fort ruins. There are also swings and a playground for kids. The famous "Bite into Maine" lobster roll food truck is parked here during the summer. They recently started charging for parking. ”

“The secret it out on this place, so expect a line... Great brunch spot, it's the go to southern creole place in town. Worth the wait, but maybe on a sunny day when you can sit and people watch outside with a coffee.”

“Best bagels around. They also sell delicious breads, sandwiches, pastries, and cakes. I recommend the sea salt bagels with herbed creamed cheese from the fridge. From the dessert case, don't miss the coconut cake. This is not a dine in location. The also don't toast the bagels for you- it's grab and go and they sell out of bagels by noon usually. There are a few outdoor seats. They also have a toast bar at a separate location nearby but they don't sell their desserts there. ”

“Take the 15 min ride on Casco Bay Ferry from the Old Port to this island. You can rent bikes or a golf cart to explore the island. There are a few beaches, some fun shops and restaurants, and an abandoned fort called Battery Steele that has lots of interesting graffiti art. ”

“Local is a great spot in my neighborhood, but I would only recommend the breakfast there (or drinks in the evening -- the dinner offerings have never impressed me). Breakfast/brunch is popular here so expect a bit of a wait if you go after 10 on a weekend.”
