“8-minute drive. Lawrenceville (and other locations). Considered by many the best French Bakery in town. Not long ago there were no French bakeries here; now we can argue about which of several is the best. Almond croissants addictive.”

“You simply cannot come to Pittsburgh without trying a Primanti's Sandwich. It started as a Truckers tradition with the whole meal on the sandwich so it was easy to eat on the go. The original location in the Strip District is open 24 hours a day and had a "if you are not ready go away" way about it. I've tried every sandwhich and liked them all. The Double egg and cheese is my favorite. They do have a Vegan/vegitarian option in the black bean sandwich. There are other locations throughout the city that are bars and the suburbs that are more like resturaunts as well but they aren't open 24 hours a day. There is even one in Ft. Lauderdale for the Pittsburgh Expats. ”

“8-minute drive. Lawrenceville. 19th century church converted into a microbrewery and restaurant, perhaps the first such venture in this area. Beer brewed on the former altar. Big place, varied menu, a fun place for a special occasion. Nice courtyard.”

“Ridiculously good. Really. Outstanding Thai. There is another location just across the 7th Street Bridge in downtown Pittsburgh. They just expanded their location when their neighbor moved out and the place it still packed. It's good. ”

“A must if you are looking for a meaty meal! Their food is some of the top in town. Their steaks are fantastic, albeit large. They also offer an amazing burger called the Pub Burger. (Tip - Order a side of Truffle Mayo for your fries!) I also love the braised beef Poutine. Book a reservation as this one is hard to get a table before 8:00.”

“Vegan restaurant with homemade sauces and dressings and wrappings: A creative, hipster take on Eastern European cuisine like kluski slaskie, mushroom/cabbage pierogies and apple pancakes . Very cool outdoor seating way in the back surrounded by old buildings covered with foliage. ”

Italienisches Restaurant

“8-10 minute drive. Lawrenceville. Authentic Italian pasta, pizza, antipasti, salads, desserts. For Will always a tough choice between a calzone and lasagne, both reminiscent of his Italy days. Leave room for the tiramisu and other outstanding desserts. Can be crowded. Lively (loud for some) atmosphere. BYOB.”

“Default, most frequented bar for whatever mood or outfit your wearing. You ABSOLUTELY MUST take a #brilloselfie in the mirror of the bright pink unisex bathroom near the kitchen entrance. People pile in 10 at a time, don't think twice about it. It's tradition. ”

“I recommend this place because it was one of the first coffee shops in the area and because of the great courtyard across the street where you can enjoy your beverage in the fresh air. The vibe here can be a bit stand offish to outsiders. I don't think it's intentional but I wouldn't come here to get a taste of the Pittsburgh friendliness. ”

“Funky, fresh take on Mexican food. Big, cool space. Always a scene. Lots of beers on tap with the specialty being Big Azz margaritas which are 22 oz. (in a lot of different flavors, but never made with a cheap mix.) If you're out late, they're on sale after 10 pm. Huge burritos, good wings (try San Francisco.)”
