Best things to do in Oslo

“Clossest mall where you find everything. We like to go there to get cheep groceries at the International Store outside the mall and then have e.g. a frozen yoghurt or a smoothie as a treat. Metro 4 and 5 both go there and some of the busses.”

“Thor Heyerdahl is one of history’s most famous explorers. In 1947 he crossed the Pacific Ocean on the balsawood raft Kon-Tiki. This was his first expedition to be captured on film, and was later awarded Academy Award for best documentary in 1951. He later completed similar achievements with the reed boats Ra, Ra II and Tigris, through which he championed his deep involvement for both the environment and world peace. He was also responsible for important archeological excavations on the Galapagos Islands, Easter Island and in Túcume. The Kon-Tiki Museum exhibits objects from Heyerdahl’s world famous expeditions, the original Kon-Tiki raft, and the papyrus boat Ra II Bus 30 from Jernbanetorget (Oslo Central Station), Rådhuset (City Hall) and Solli plass every 10 min. Ferry from Rådhuskaien (City Hall Pier) from April to October every 20 min. Stop nr. 2 Bygdøynes, 200 meters away from the Kon-Tiki Museum. ”

“This island is one of the islands in Oslo fjord that is accessible with a public transportation card. I recommend having a 24hour card or 7day card to visit any of these islands. During summer it can be nice to take the public ferry out to one of the island in the Oslo fjord. But be warned that this island is very popular during our holiday time and you can expect a long line to get onto the boat. Both going out onto the island but also on the way back again. So plan good time, if you decide to go here at the most populare time. There are several island and posibilities here. But Hovedøya is one of the most populare places to go for beach experience and barbeque. Locals go here during their free-time. There is also old ruins of a monestary (Hovedøya kloster) here that can be nice to have a look at. ”

“Great place to go swimming if the weather is nice. Tjuvholmen is even more luxurious than Aker Brygge, but rich and famous who live there must share their waterfront the public beach and public swimming facilities. Really nice!”
