Natural Feature
“Therma are located in the southeastern part of the island, about 13km from the town of Kos. The landscape has a wild beauty, steep slopes, cliffs and dark pebbles; result of tectonic disturbances and volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. The area takes its name from the hot springs that gush water into the sea. This hot spring water is rich in calcium, potassium, sodium, sulfur and magnesium; substances considered to aid the healing of skin, arthritic and rheumatic diseases and also improve the general condition the skin. The temperature of the water ranges from 30 to 50 degrees Celsius. The experience is invaluable, a natural Spa! In front of the beach has been created a small lake that is separated from the rest of the beach with rocks that allow seawater to enter and cool the hot water. The beach is suitable for all ages and for all seasons. You can visit Therma either by bus or by any private means of transportation. ”

“The Asklepieion is an ancient medical center placed 4 km to the southeast of Kos Town, beyond Platani village. It dates from the first half of the 3rd century BC and it was built to honor the god of health and medicine, Asklepios, after the death of the famous ancient Greek physician, Hippocrates. The characteristic symbol of this institution was a snake, as Greeks honored this animal due to its ability in terms of selecting curative herbs, and it can still be seen. The physicians of this hospital were also priests and a sanctuary was available for everyone who wanted to pray.”

“The pine forest of Plaka is located near the village of Antimachia. The forest is home to a large number of tame, free roaming peackocks; visitors may touch and feed them since they are familiar and friendly to people. Its location within a gorge and the dense shade of the trees create a cool and rejuvinating atmosphere, even in the hot summer days. Visitors can admire the peackocks, enjoy their stroll and relax on the benches that are situated in parts of the forest.”

“The ancient Odeon of Kos was built by the Romans around the 2nd and the 3rd centuries. It was found in the early 20th century along with the Gymnasium and the Roman baths, all of them in generally good condition. These constructions are placed on the east and west of the Casa Romana, which is part of the Ancient Town and its several excavation areas.”

“The "Old Town" in Kos is a bustling pedestrian area with plenty of shops and lots of cafes and restaurants. The main street that goes through it starts off from Eleftheria square and ends up at Diagoras square. It is full of life during the whole summer period from April to end of October. It is definitely worth a visit...”
