“This is by far my favorite Beach on the island, good thing it's a 3 minute drive from our island home. Swim, snorkel, watch the honu (green sea turtles) in the water or sunning themselves on the beach. The honu will be sharing beach space with the highly endangered Hawaiian monk seals that seem to enjoy Poipu Beach frequently. Waves permitting, you can go out and explore the tombolo, a small islet that is occassionally accessible by land bridge. Next door to Poipu is Brenneke's Beach which is used exclusively for boogie boarding.”

“Not one to miss! Go directly before sunset to enjoy the beautiful scenery and…a large flock of parrots that fly to the palm trees surrounding the restaurant. Early risers can also watch the parrots leave at dawn. You do not have to eat at the restaurant. Just need to be in the vicinity. It is a bit pricey but the food, view, parrots and service make it worthwhile. ”

“Best hot dogs on the planet “No lie — these hot dogs are good enough on their own to warrant a trip to the island of Kauai. They’re truly Hawaiian style hot dogs, complete with tropical relishes...a surf board for a menu, and the best lemonade you’ve ever had. Careful, if you eat there once, you’ll be eating there for lunch the rest of your visit! — Real Travel Magazine”

“Two gardens with very different glimpses of Kauai. McBryde has a natural feel, beautiful gardens and you can wander at your own pace. Allerton is also beautiful, home of the huge ficus trees in Jurassic Park but they only offer guided tours. ”
