“Also known as the Reunification Palace, this Vietnamese landmark was constructed on the site of an old French-colonial governor’s residence. It has a remarkably varied past; it housed Japanese officials during World War II and was later the home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The imposing, broad, angular building played a seminal role in Vietnamese history: It was here on April 30, 1975, in an episode that came to be known as the Fall of Saigon, that a North Vietnamese army tank smashed through the gates, symbolically ending the Vietnam War. The Reunification Palace is open all the week from 7.30 AM to 11.30AM and 1.00PM to 5.00 PM. Entrance ticket is VND 20,000 (about $1). Guided tours in English are also available. Getting there is extremely easy by taxi, motorbike or walking, as the palace is so well-known and right in the center. ”

“The Fine Arts Museum is indispensable for those who are keen on Vietnam arts and culture. Although the museum itself is not big and modern enough, its abundant collections can make up for these mistakes. The museum focuses on collecting, keeping, preserving and displaying fine artworks typical of Vietnamese people, especially Ho Chi Minh City and the South. Worth the go for its French-Chinese architecture.”

“"The Vietnam History Museum is another amazing piece of architecture, clearly influenced by French colonialism when it opened in 1929. Through a varied collection of artifacts and documents, the museum explores the country’s pre-war eras, Cham and Khmer culture, and prehistoric times such as the Bronze Age (Đông Sơn civilization). Set beside the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, this makes for a great detour while on the tourist circuit" - PIUMI RAJAPAKSHA from theculturetrip.com”
