Kunstmuseum
“An ambitious contemporary art museum well worth checking out. The unfortunate abbreviation makes many think of sandwich topping made of pork's booty, but the only hunger you'll satisfy here is that for aesthetic revelation. Also admire the architecture of the so-called Tennis Palace housing the museum, as well a gigantic multiplex movie theatre. There was, however, never any tennis played here. Instead it was used as a basketball court in the 1952 Olympic Games. But that's another story. ”

Skandinavisches Restaurant

“The restaurant, opened in 1934, server its customers Finnish food and atmosphere. The spirit of the restaurant is created, with a little help from the personnel, by its particular clientele. Restaurant Sea Horse has served Finnish delicates, such as crispy fried Baltic herrings, vorschmack, herring plates and Wiener schnitzels, for as long as 80 years. It’s safe to say that Sea Horse is a part of Finnish restaurant history, perhaps already somewhat of an institution.”

“Korkeasaari is the number one Zoo in Finland, located in a small island separated by a strait from Katajanokka. To go there, you can take ferry from Kauppatori in summertime, or choose metro/bus connection from the north end of the island. When the weather is completely still and sounds of the city fade away in the evening, you can sometimes hear the lions roaming. ”

“Helsinki is the smallest city ever to have had the privilege of hosting the Summer Olympics. The buildings that were constructed in Helsinki for the 1952 Summer Olympics have been well preserved and are internationally renowned for their cohesive and minimalistic architecture. The Swimming Stadium is situated in the middle of a natural rocky park just to the northeast of the Olympic Stadium. The first outdoor swimming complex in Finland, it comprises three separate pools. The Swimming Stadium is open to the public throughout the summer season from early May to the middle of September.”
