“Process of rum making has not changed since the 1800's. It is a bit mucky and very rustic. Best to go between Monday and Friday if you want to see rum being made. Aggie's Restaurant and Bar is a good stop for a local lunch. ”

“Real Value supermarket is the biggest on the island. Not cheap - but none of the supermarkets are :(”

“If you like to hike, then this is a treat. The Concord waterfalls is not one, but three waterfalls. It is situated on the edge of the forest reserve on the western side of the island, and therefore the water is crystal clear and ice cold. Of the three waterfalls in this area, the first one is the most readily access able, with a paved road leading almost directly up to it. There is nothing like a taking a bracing dip in a cool mountain stream, so we do suggest that you walk with the necessary clothing. The second of the three falls is bigger and taller, and is reached only after a 45 minute hike. The trail goes through a nutmeg plantation and is readily marked, so a guide is not absolutely ”

“Esther’s Beach Bar: Tucked away inside the Vendor’s Market on the glorious Grand Anse Beach is one of my very favourite places anywhere. Esther’s bar is the place to go in Grenada for fabulous cocktails – the very best Mojitos + a sparkling atmosphere and warm friendships. This little beach bar is set amidst the simply stunning vistas of the Caribbean Sea and St George’s, with it’s backdrop of brooding mountains and a promise of rainforest and waterfalls. Over the years, Esther’s Bar has become the very centre of our holiday. Here we meet all our old friends, catch up with the news, and plan our Grenadian adventure holiday. You can sample some of the most delicious Grenadian cocktails, and try out the local rum at this well-stocked bar! Take a drink and have a cooling dip in the Caribbean Sea whilst you enjoy it. Try out their Mojitos, Rum Punch or Pain Killer or possibly a Bushwhacker or Hurricane. Esther’s Under-the-Counter Rum has local rum steeped in a heady mixture of Grenadian herbs and spices. This is a taste experience like no other, and comes with a culture of local folklore and mystic beliefs in it’s properties! I can promise you that you will never have had it’s like before.”

“This beach is over a mile long, offering a relaxing walk or swim. Some shade trees are along the beach to sit under and there usually is little, if any, surf for swimmers. Take a towel and find your spot! You can walk into one of the resorts to have a good meal.”

“Concord main falls are easily accessible via some stairs - for something a little more secluded take the hiking trail to Concord 2”

“A store specializing in batik fabric and a few outfits for women and men. Clothing is made by local seamstresses, who do a good job on these items. Locally made jewelry also available. Visit the chocolate shop across the street for a nice explanation of the cocoa harvest and processing on the island. Also go to the Coop a few doors down to get locally grown fruit and vegetables. ”

“You will need a Taxi or a Rental vehicle to travel between Smithy's and SGU. (buses which involve a transfer in St George's would be the least practical way of getting to SGU.)”
