THE SPACE... Wonderfully Bright, Airy Uplifting Loft Apartment with king double bedroom, (sleeping two people), an open plan studio consisting of 3 very comfortable sofa beds (sleeping 4 people), a south-east facing Balcony, Kitchen/Dining area. A bright airy landing leads to a family Bathroom with rain shower and sumptuous bath. There's lots of little treats to make your stay as comfortable as possible... candles, a selection of bath bubbles, robes, slippers, cosy throws & cushions, DVDs, board games, lots of books to peruse... And plenty more... The Lodge has been designed to be a place to unwind, chill out, rest your mind, peruse a book, chat jovially with family or friends, laugh a lot and then sleep like a baby when you do climb into cosy your bed. The apartment overlooks a wilderness garden full of trees chirping with birds, beautiful Wicklow countryside and fields with grazing horses & sheep. It is perfect for either a relaxing break, a sightseeing tour of Wicklow or Dublin, or even a stop-over en-route through county Wicklow. A car is a must in order to make the most of all of beautiful Wicklow's most wonderful offerings. Whilst we would be happy to host you for just one night, to get the best from the restful space, allow yourself to come stay for at least two nights. It is very quiet and peaceful with only the sound of birds when you have the windows open. Outside in the wild garden, we aim to be a Bird Friendly, Bug Friendly, Wildlife Friendly zone, encouraging and nourishing all kinds of creatures including a large variety of birds, bats, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, grasshoppers, frogs, newts, rabbit, fox, badger, deer and more. There is a private, secluded, outdoor chilling/picnic area for guest use only. We call it 'The Circle'. It's a circular patch of trimmed grass with rustic log seating & a fire pit. There is a small fee for a tub of logs for use in the firepit. A lovely area to sit and relax at any time of day. Please note: For those looking for a party venue, this is not a suitable place to stay, loud music or boisterous behaviour is not welcomed at the Lodge.
WICKLOW DELIGHTS WITHIN 20-30 MINS DRIVE: WICKLOW NATIONAL PARK - GLENDALOUGH, LARAGH, WICKLOW GAP, SALLY GAP, LUGALA HOUSE, WICKLOW WAY WALKING TRACKS. POWERSCOURT HOUSE, GARDENS & CAFE MOUNT USHER GARDENS & CAFE GREYSTONES- BRAY COASTAL WALK Laragh & Glendalough are about 30 mins drive west, a lovely continuation from Roundwood and Lough Dan. We highly recommend doing lunch or dinner in The Wicklow Heather while in Laragh, even a coffee or a drink on the terrace if you don't have time for a meal. Say hello to Betty, the wonderful proprietor and hostess. The Wicklow Way Walk runs through the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Many of the sections can be walked individually and the starting points are easily reached (by car) from The Lodge. Roundwood & Lough Dan is about 20 mins driving west from us, beautiful for an evening drive around the lakes. Two good restaurants in this area would be The Roundwood Inn, a very quaint pub/restaurant serving a small but delicious menu. Also Woods & Byrne, a renovated pub/restaurant serving a good menu and with a great little bar attached which often has traditional live music. Wicklow town is about 7km south from us. It has lots of useful shops and several good cafes. There is a lovely short walk around the historical ruins of the Black Castle. A longer but even more spectacular walk (and only for the sure-footed) is the Cliff walk to the old lighthouse, then down the path to the new lighthouse. While in Wicklow, we would highly recommend a visit to Wicklow Gaol and afterwards a bite to eat in Jailer's Rest Cafe, a simple menu with a delicious seafood chowder ;-) Along the quays in Wicklow you must not miss a visit to The Fish Man (Alan), it is a delightful shop, selling... well yes, all varieties of fresh fish. Soon he hopes to have a small restaurant attached to the shop. The Fish Man has a great relationship with a local Seal, (Sammy) who can often be seen hanging around in the harbour next to the shop. The Wicklow Sailing Regatta takes place every August and is worth a visit to see the wonderful array of boats before they take off on their races. Brittas Bay beach is about 20 mins south from us. It's fantastic for a chilly dip, even better for a long sandy beach walk or a beach run. Rathdrum is s small town in the same area as Avoca & Woodenbridge. Avondale House & Park is here. It's a very historical park & well worth a visit or a picnic if you love old mature trees. About 20 mins from us. 'Bates' is a wonderful restaurant in Rathdrum should you wish to hang about that area for dinner. Kilmacurragh House & Garden, close to Glenealy and Rathdrum, about 20 mins from us .... a sad but historic story goes with the house and gardens, of an Irish family broken by WW1. A superb garden containing many rare varieties of trees, shrubs an plants, now under the care of The National Botanic Garden. Avoca & Wooden-bridge are pretty villages, about 30 mins south from us. The popular visitors attraction, The Meeting of The Waters, is located here. Avoca was the setting for the famous tv series 'Ballykissangel' and is home to a large flock of breeding Red Kite. There is a great cafe in Avoca village, the original Avoca Handweavers Cafe, well worth a trip just for the tasty food and great coffee. Also a good little pub for a pint, one which was used in the Ballykissangel tv series. Woodenbridge is a village a little further down the river. In May, the hedgerows are coloured purple with Rhodendron. There is a sensitively designed WW1 memorial garden under the bridge there which has a collection of standing stones representing all the villages and towns of Co Wicklow which lost young men to The Great War (phone number hidden). It's a lovely tribute to these men and worth a visit for a few moments of reflection and remembrance. Powerscourt Estate, Gardens and Avoca Cafe & Shop is approximately 20 mins drive north from us. The driveway up to the house and gardens boast a stunning selection of old Beech trees, a big must for any tree-huggers among you. The gardens are worth a stroll while lunch on the terrace of Powerscourt House Cafe is a great lunch stop, offering an amazing selection of delicious soups, salads, hot dishes and 'impossible to resist' cakes and puddings. Avoca Kilmacanogue, Shopping & Garden Centre are about 15 mins north from us, set in a beautiful woodland... a foodie shopaholic's dream. Two great eating options there are 'The Fern' Restaurant and 'The Lemon Tree' Cafe. Greystones is a beautiful seaside town, about 7km from north from us. It has a train station, many great restaurants, bars, shops, a beach walk, the well-known cliff walk, a harbour for sailing fun and much much more. For lunch, we would highly recommend a visit to The Happy Pear, our local organic vegan restaurant serving the most delicious, wholesome food in County Wicklow. They are open on Fri & Sat evenings throughout the (website hidden) (phone number hidden) For dinner, we would recommend The Three Q's, a quaint little restaurant with warm and friendly staff. It is owned and managed by three talented brothers, the three Quinn brothers, two are chefs, the other is at front of house and an expert (website hidden). (phone number hidden) MORE LOCAL TO US Our nearest villages, Newcastle , Ashford & Newtownmountkennedy, are each approximately 4km away. There you will find a local pub for food & pints plus a convenience store for essential supplies. There is a large supermarket & pharmacy in Newtownmountkennedy. East Coast Nature Reserve is about 2.5 km, down the sea road from Newcastle Village. It's a beautiful nature walk with stunning Wicklow mountain and coastal scenery to invigorate the senses. Kilcoole Coastal Bird Reserve and it's Little Tern colony is just a 4km drive. Mount Usher Garden, Ashford, 4 km from us, is a delightful old garden with the babbling river Vartry running through it, as well as beautiful shrubs, flowers, a wildflower meadow and wise old mature trees that could tell a story or two. It is in Ashford, 4km from here. You won't find carpet bedding of annuals, clipped topiary or manicured lawns here at Mount Usher. From its conception back in the 1860s, Mount Usher has pursued a naturalistic approach to planting and landscaping, a style which is often referred to as Robinsonian after Irishman, William Robinson (phone number hidden)). "This is an art Which does mend nature, change it rather: but The art itself is nature. Robinson used this line from Shakespeare as a motto and as a guiding principle in his work. One of horticulture's great writers and innovators, he revolutionised the way we think about gardens. As a reaction against showy Victorian formality, instead Robinson advocated using permanent planting rather than bedding plants and believed in achieving an apparently informal garden experience by mixing native and exotic plants. Mount Usher Avoca Garden Cafe is located here and you can indulge in a little retail therapy in the shopping courtyard and the Greenhouse Garden Store. Killoughter beach is 4km from us. It is a pretty, stoney beach with a stunning view of Wicklow Head and a wonderful long grassy walk 7km to Wicklow town, a great way to burn off some calories before enjoying a good lunch in the lovely seaside town of Wicklow. We have a wonderful 'Country Market' in Newcastle Village on Saturday mornings, well worth a visit for delicious homemade or homegrown organic provisions. They also have a small selection of craft, the most special being a selection of small botanic paintings by Lynn Stringer, a very talented botanic artist living in Newcastle. Many of the paintings are inspired by rare or well-loved flowers, my favourites are The Bluebell and The Primrose. If you like gardens and flowers, they make an excellent souvenir of your Wicklow visit. We have several world class golf clubs in our area, the nearest being Druid's Glen GC which is about 4km from us, Wicklow GC is 15 mins drive. Blainroe GC which is about 20 mins drive. Woodenbridge GC is 40 mins drive. Powerscourt GC is 20 mins drive. Glen Mill GC, our lovely local golf course is 2km up the hill from us, owned and managed by The Byrne family. Cycling is a very popular sport in Wicklow. I have huge admiration for those who tackle our big hilly county on a bicycle. Eric's late father was a very keen cyclist and I believe, was one of the founding members of the Wicklow 200. We would be delighted to welcome any of you brave cyclists that are passing through. For Equine sporting folks, Boswell Equestrian Centre is about 3km from here. If you are attending an event at Boswell, we have a roomy backyard where you could park a horse box should you need a place to stay in the vicinity. Unfortunately we don't have any stables or paddock. We are ideally located for those who hope to incorporate both the Wicklow Mountains and the beautiful Wicklow Coastline during their visit. Being situated close to the coast, as is The Lodge, we rarely get shrouded in mist, as the mountains often do. We love the proximity of both the Irish Sea and the beautiful Wicklow Mountains National Park, there's a great feeling of space and we feel very lucky to live where we live. We are surrounded by a perfect mix of scenery, activities, shopping and excellent eating spots, even within a 10km radius. Eric is a professional Bird Guide (BirdsIreland). He is listed on Trip Advisor and (website hidden) under Birds Ireland, Eric Dempsey or Eric The Birdman. If birding is your thing or if you've always wondered if birding might be your thing, he'd be delighted to show you some birds for a special AirBnB rate. Half day & Full days are available. As you read through the following pages, you will find several restaurants, cafes and pubs which we feel we can recommend. Cafes and restaurants are a big part of our leisure time. A day's birding or walking is never without a visit to a good cafe, pub or restaurant for a bit of sustenance. We would be more than happy to help you organise your daily route in order to incorporate the areas which would best suit your interests. We keep a selection of local tourist maps & pamphlets for your perusal and to help you choose some good excursions. We love to walk on the local stoney beach at Newcastle in all weathers, it's 2km from the house. Equally we love the mountains for a good nature ramble through woods or moors. Bring some good rain gear so that you don't miss out on being in the outdoors if you get a few drops of rain, which you just might.

Bright new loft suitable for a couple. It is not suitable for children. With a large double bedroom, a shower room, and a kitchen/living room. Parking, bike storage. Walking distance to a stunning beach at Old Bawn, and Cahore pier. The Strand Bar at Cahore is a lively spot during the summer months serving Woodfired pizzas along with a dinner menu. (www.thestrandcahore.ie). Gorey 20mins. Dublin 1hr.
Newly decorated loft space. It is suitable for a couple or someone travelling on their own. Accommodation consists of a living/dining area with a kitchenette, a shower room and a bedroom with a very comfortable double bed. The kitchenette has a fridge, 2 ring hob, (no cooker) sink and utensils.
Ballygarrett is a small village situated between two larger holiday villages. This makes Ballygarrett very appealing as we have both the secluded beaches of Old Bawn and Cahore and the amenities of the larger villages of Kilmukridge and Courttown. We are within 20mins drive of Gorey which boasts many fantastic restaurants shops and a weekly farmers market. Wells House is nearby for Clay Pigeon shooting, Falconry, Archery and much more. Ballygarrett and the local area has recently been used to film "The Sea" written by John Banville. "Saving Private Ryan" was filmed in Curracloe Beach a short drive from here. Wexford Town which hosts the International Wexford Opera Festival is about a 40 minute drive.

It's a circular patch of trimmed grass with rustic log seating, a lovely area to sit and relax at any time of day or evening. Please note however, It is not a party venue.
OVERVIEW... We are ideally located for those who hope to incorporate both Dublin City Centre sights as well as Wicklow National Park and the beautiful Wicklow Coastline. Being situated close to the coast, as is The Lodge, we rarely get shrouded in mist, as the mountains often do. We recommend that you make yourselves comfortable at the Lodge for at least 4 nights... this would allow for a day exploring the National Park's top vistas, 1 or 2 days doing Wicklow's historical Great Houses , Gardens & special Restaurants and Coffee Shops, 1 or 2 days doing Dublin City Centre sights. The beautiful city of Kilkenny is within easy reach of the Lodge as is Newgrange Stone Age Passage Tomb. Some of our guests have even done the Cliffs of Moher from the Lodge, a very full day's excursion but do-able. We love the proximity of both the Irish Sea and the beautiful Wicklow Mountains National Park, there's a great feeling of space and we feel very lucky to live where we live. We are surrounded by a perfect mix of scenery, activities, shopping and excellent eating spots within a 10km radius. Eric is a professional Bird Guide (BirdsIreland). He is listed on Trip Advisor and (website hidden) under Birds Ireland, Eric Dempsey or Eric The Birdman. WELL-KNOWN WICKLOW DELIGHTS Laragh & Glendalough are about 30 mins drive west, a lovely continuation from Roundwood and Lough Dan. We highly recommend doing lunch or dinner in The Wicklow Heather while in Laragh, even a coffee or a drink on the terrace if you don't have time for a meal. Say hello to Betty, the wonderful proprietor and hostess. The Wicklow Way Walk runs through the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Many of the sections can be walked individually and the starting points are easily reached (by car) from The Lodge. Soon he hopes to have a small restaurant attached to the shop which will be gr-eat! 'Bates' is a wonderful restaurant in Rathdrum should you wish to hang about this area for dinner. Kilmacurragh Gardens, close to Glenealy and Rathdrum, about 20 mins from us .... a sad but historic story goes with the house and gardens, of an Irish family broken by WW1. A superb garden containing many rare varieties of trees, shrubs an plants, now under the care of The National Botanic Garden. Avoca & Wooden-bridge are pretty villages, about 30 mins south from us. The popular visitors attraction The Meeting of The Waters is located here. Avoca was the setting for the famous tv series 'Ballykissangel' and is home to a large flock of breeding Red Kite. There is a great restaurant in Avoca village, the original Avoca Handweavers Cafe, well worth a trip just for the tasty food and great coffee. (phone number hidden) MORE LOCAL TO US - WICKLOW DELIGHTS Our nearest villages, Newcastle , Ashford & Newtownmountkennedy, are each approximately 4km away. Unfortunately we don't have any stables or paddock. .
