“Denver is an outdoor city with a vibrant, walkable downtown offering urban adventures for all ages. Within a one-mile radius, you can kayak on the Platte River; explore some of the city's best museums; shop at art galleries and boutiques; see a Broadway touring show; enjoy live music; ride a rollercoaster or cool off in a water park; and experience exciting professional sports. Experience Denver's top chef-driven restaurants and innovative craft breweries. The Denver Beer Trail is a great guide to sampling those local brews. Downtown's free 16th Street Mall shuttle makes it easy to get around. Visit Larimer Square and the renovated Denver Union Station in historic Lower Downtown (LoDo), where Victorian buildings now house restaurants, galleries, shops, bars, brewpubs and coffee houses, or head to Denver Pavilions where you'll find shops, restaurants, bars and a movie theater. Discover the downtown area by bike, thanks to the B-cycle bike-sharing program, and don't miss the chance for a photo with everyone's favorite Blue Bear public art sculpture at the Colorado Convention Center.”

“Confluence Park is right in downtown along the Platte River. There’s a great trail that goes alongside the Platte River with some nice art murals and is a nice way to suspend some time outdoors but still have access to downtown and lower highlands area. ”

“Just a 2 block walk, this park hosts the capitol and other municipal buildings. The history museum is nearby and there is an Ai Wei Wei outdoor exhibit of the Chinese zodiacs. I will also mention that there are a lot of homeless people here. If that makes you uncomfortable, I recommend you skip this park. That being said, I stroll there often (as a fan of Ai Wei Wei and local activist efforts) and I've never encountered an experience that felt unsafe or threatening. ”

“1 mile west on 32nd is a 60 acre lake with a nature preserve and beautiful views of the Front Range (Eastern face of the Rocky Mountains). We love walking around Crown Hill - I always imagine I'm Laura Ingalls crossing the plains and just seeing the mountains for the first time when I'm walking around Crown Hill!”

“Only five blocks from the Pinkhouse is Harvard Gulch Park and Par 3. It has a great running trail, lots of shade and the extension of the CSU Horticulture group with a beautiful vegetable garden, the produce of which is donated to the food bank. This is a great alternative to Washington Park if you're looking for something a little less crowded.”

“Get eye to eye with a steer that weighs more than your car, watch sheep dogs gently herd their fluffy friends into a pen, be dazzled by the artistry of trick roping in the Mexican Rodeo and, of course, eat a funnel cake. Denver's National Western Stock Show is one of the world's premier Western spectacles. Pull on your cowboy boots, grab your chaps and see it for yourself each January at the National Western Complex (Jan. 6–21, 2018). For the last 112 years, thousands of visitors from across the country have come out to see more than 15,000 animals, rodeo performances, bull-riding competitions, dancing-horse shows, barrel racing, auctions and booths selling everything from boots to cookware.”
