“The Library of Birmingham provides a showcase for Birmingham's internationally important collections of archives, photography and rare books. Facilities include a state-of-the-art gallery space, opening up public access to the collections. It is also home to the BFI Mediatheque, providing free access to the National Film Archive. Other facilities include a flexible studio theatre, an outdoor amphitheatre and other informal performance spaces and dedicated spaces for children and teenagers. The Library is next to and physically connected with Birmingham Repertory Theatre (The REP). Other important cultural venues, including The ICC, Symphony Hall, Arena Birmingham (previously known as the NIA), Town Hall and Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery are located very close by. We received nearly 2 million visits in 2015 and were the most visited tourist attraction outside of London (based on figures from the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions). ”

“The Pen Museum, or Pen Room, is housed in a Grade II Listed redbrick building, on the corner of Legge Lane and Frederick Street. Once home to Wiley's pen factory, it is the only UK museum dedicated to the history of the pen making industry. The museum tells the story of how Birmingham became the centre of the steel pen trade and its part in communication revolution. During a visit here you will be able to make your own pen nib and try out feather quills, reed pens, early typewriters and braille equipment.”
