“Sydney Gardens, formerly ‘The Pleasure Gardens’, were laid out with the purpose of being a commercial pleasure garden, built behind the Sydney Hotel (now The Holburne Museum), which was intrinsic to Bath’s social scene. Jane Austen was an avid walker and enjoyed walking these gardens throughout her time living in Bath. The gardens are still open to the public and feature tennis courts, flowerbeds and a replica of the Temple of Minerva, making it the ideal spot for a stroll or a picnic. There is also a path that leads down to the Kennet and Avon Canal”

“Jane Austen novels still make an excellent read even 200 years after her death. To celebrate this, Parade Gardens have constructed a commemorative flowerbed, designed to look like an open book and quill. It's quite a sight. Enjoy the flowerbed from the Grand Parade or enter the gardens and relax in a deckchair with an ice cream. £1.50 or free to Discovery Card holders.”

“The Royal Crescent, one of Bath’s most iconic landmarks, was built between 1767 and 1775 and designed by John Wood the Younger. This impressive landmark is arranged around a perfect lawn overlooking Royal Victoria Park and forms a sweeping crescent of 30 Grade I Listed terrace houses. It is without doubt one of the greatest examples of Georgian architecture anywhere in the UK.”
