Join husband-and-wife duo Leo and Monica for an evening of laughter, fun, and fresh pasta, with recipes rolled straight from Leo’s traditional Florentine roots. We'll jump into the pasta-making portion of our class. You’ll learn just how easy it is to whip up a perfect pasta dough, roll it out, shape and fill each delicate nibble with a punchy, flavor-packed filling made from scratch. The class will focus on 3 types of Pasta (Ravioli, Tortellini and Tagliatelle plus some surprise shapes). Every class will last about three hours, at the end of which guests will have dinner with the hosts and taste their creations on the spot! Tortellini, ravioli, tagliatelle, spaghetti – after a few hours in Leo and Monica’s kitchen, you’ll be able to tackle any variety and produce a pasta-piece that tastes even better than it looks. Stroll with me as we explore historical sites (past and present), uncover interesting truths, and use all 5 senses to do so. Pennsylvania Avenue has been host to inaugurations, protests and celebrations throughout our Nation's history. But the development of this grand boulevard, connecting the Capitol to the White House, is fraught with conflict and intrigue. Starting in the front yard of the White House in Lafayette Square, we'll discuss the history of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. From construction to destruction, fire, flood, addition and renovation, you'll learn how this most famous address has changed throughout history. Taking a look at other buildings along Lafayette Square, we'll discuss the presidents, politicians, and power players of all kinds that have lived along this storied block. After exploring the White House neighborhood, we'll take a stroll down Pennsylvania Ave toward the Capitol Building. Past the hallowed halls and imposing facades of the Willard Hotel, Old Post Tower, FBI Headquarters, and one of the weirdest memorials in DC, we'll learn how downtown Washington went from Murder Bay to America’s Main Street.

We'll take a tour of historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, the hometown of George Washington, and a center of the American Revolution. And take in a bunch of Civil War history along the way. We might visit a church from 1776 that contains the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution. The home of the mentor of Patrick Henry ("Give me liberty or give me death!") We'll discuss the enslaved woman who irked Martha Washington, and why George decided to free his slaves. We'll see the home of Washington's doctor, where we'll discuss the ill-fated remedies used at the time of GW's death. Civil War sites will include the site of the Appomattox statue, the locale of a fiery skirmish between Union troops and Confederate sympathizers, and the workplace of a famous rebel spy. Also, the market place where Washington lost a fist fight! And the place of GW's mysterious lady friend. As well as the meeting hall where George Mason composed the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution. The townhouse of GW's older brother Lawrence. The mansion where GW helped plan the French and Indian War. The tavern where he held his inaugural ball. And his townhouse away from Mt. Vernon, & more! Other things to note: Old Town can reached from the King St. metro station. From it, take the free trolley bus down King St. Plenty free parking on streets 3-4 blocks north and south of King St.

Join me for a walking tour of Washington's U Street neighborhood trace the history of the area through its buildings! Once known as Washington’s “Black Broadway,” the U Street corridor has been the civic and cultural heart of the District’s Black community since the turn of the century. Rich in architecture, history and culture, U Street was developed by and for the then segregated Black community of the Federal Capital. Revered Jazz icons like Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, and Cab Calloway once walked U Street, performing at nightclubs and glamorous music halls in the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Beautiful buildings, largely designed by local Black architects, still stand as a testament to this self-sustaining community. On the residential side streets, a fascinating evolution of row house development and design is evident in the diverse and varied homes, some dating back to the 1860s! We'll begin our tour at the African American Civil War Memorial along bustling U Street, appreciating locally well known anchors of the community, like the Prince Hall Masonic Temple, Bohemian Caverns, Bens Chili Bowl, and the Lincoln Theater. We'll also get off the main drag, exploring side streets and back alleys to get a true sense of this fascinating neighborhood.

We would never give you a map - this would ruin the surprise of finding a secret door but you will have a Q & A with one of our docents before you start your journey. It’s not in the finding, it’s in the seeking that is important. Experience the magic! Your self-guided experience will begin with an in-depth video introduction to our history and our secret doors, as well as what to look for as you go. Then, we will send you off on your own to search for the secrets and treasures that are everywhere to be found. As you explore the mansion, which is steeped in history and intrigue, you'll be walking in the footsteps of presidents, freedom fighters, G-Men, historians, famous musicians, and fiction writers. Built 125 years ago, nearly every President since Teddy Roosevelt has visited. Join us for a historic Donut adventure through our nation’s capital, Washington DC. Our tour begins in Western Market, which has a legacy dating back to 1802! There we will sample donuts made from a business that’s been in the same family for five generations. From there we’ll head downtown, where we’ll see a restaurant favored by a former President before passing by the White House itself for a perfect photo op. After soaking in some history at Lafayette Square, we’ll head deeper into DC to try some local fan favorite donuts from local celebrities. From there, we’ll head down Palmers Alley, one of the most photographed spots in DC, where we’ll end our adventure with delectable donuts with an international flavor. By the end, you’ll have made some great friends and enjoyed some incredible donuts and history. We hope you can join us today!

Welcome to DC Mural Tour! The highest rated mural tour in Washington D.C. You'll start by exploring the street art and murals of the NoMa neighborhood. You'll discover new and old pieces and learn more about the artists and street art scene in DC. Afterwards we'll venture to the vibrant Union Market District for more murals. You'll see more than 20 murals! We end the tour at Union Market, a huge food hall with plenty of outdoor space for food, drink, and people watching. Be prepared to walk in any weather. Bring comfortable shoes and possibly sunscreen, a raincoat, or an umbrella. And don't forget your camera! This tour is great for groups, work teams, and is perfect for team-building.
