Peaceful cabin in the woods

Ganze Hütte · Gastgeber: Richard

Gesamte Unterkunft
Blockhütte nur für dich allein.
This furnished log cabin has its own fully stocked kitchen, 3 single bunks on the main floor and two singles and a queen size mattress in the 16ft by 24ft open loft. There is an efficient wood stove, a cupboard filled with herbs, spices, snacks, candles and propane for the stoves. There is a pretty lake just 5 minutes walk down a quiet country lane which is excellent for swimming, fishing and boating. In winter the cost of firewood is built into the price so there is no extra charge for fuel.

Die Unterkunft
Guests can use the cabin and its supplies as if they are family. Water is brought in by vehicle and will be supplied fresh for every visit. In winter the Cabin is pre heated for guests 20C-25C so it is nice and cozy, the cost of firewood is built into the fee so there is no need to worry about extra fuel expense. Guests and their supplies are shuttled to the cabin by sled and a six wheeled tracked vehicle makes for a fun ride through the forest. Guests vehicles are parked safely on private property off the main road. There is one outhouse and it is very clean indeed. There is no electricity but there is a cellular signal if needed. The cabin is clean but don't be surprised if the odd red squirrel or mouse pays you a visit. This is a truly authentic Canadian cabin experience and humans are the visitors to this forest.

Zugang für Gäste
Guests can roam freely on 10,000 acres of prime crown land or stick to the trails on the 100 acres where the cabin sits. There are numerous lakes in the area two are within easy walking distance. One in particular is uninhabited by people and frequented by moose, deer, bear, turkey, racoon and chipmunk. Expect to see wildlife.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
As well as Birds, foxes, moose, deer, porcupines, bears, wolves (if you are lucky enough to hear them), chipmunks and squirrels, there are mozzies in the forest. It is just a part of the natural order of things.

Protect yourself from insects by using bug spray or covering up, it is that simple.

Mosquitos are not an issue inside the cabin if the front door is kept closed. A screened in 10X10 tent is set up on site, but really I never use it.

There is a plane fuselage used to teach survival training, wilderness first aid and bush craft scenarios on the property. Please feel free to sit in the plane and listen to the rain during storms. There is also a wood burning BBQ, two outdoor wood stoves for cooking stews and keeping warm and a picnic table and log seating scattered about camp.

Baysville, Ontario, Kanada

Situated in the heart of Muskoka, Lake of Bays and particularly the local town of Baysville was founded in the late 1800's and today is a tourist attraction in itself. Well kept and very quaint it does very well with tourism both in the summer and in winter with the snowmobilers. Algonquin Park and The Dorset Fire Tower are also close by. The cabin sits very close to a groomed snowmobile trail so it is possible to walk into the cabin in winter without any real effort whatsoever. In summer guests can drive to the front door of the Cabin as the road is maintained. May/June is mosquito season. Spring, fall and winter is prime time in this forest.

Hi fellow nature lovers I own an authentic rustic log cabin on 100 acres of private land that backs onto 10,000 acres of prime wilderness in southern Ontario. There are no people just animals and forest, streams and lakes and pristine natural conditions. I am an artist, I paint and photograph and I also track and teach bush craft. I have camped extensively throughout the world and always return to the sights, sounds and smells of my favourite place on the planet, my cabin in the woods. When at the cabin I eat well, read, relax or go off on adventures during the day and watch the stars at night. I am happy to guide or if you prefer leave you to enjoy the cabin as a wilderness experience all your own. The cabin currently has 3 single beds on the main floor and 2 singles in the loft, also a queen size air mattress. A wood stove provides the heat in winter so it is truly a four season dwelling. I look forward to meeting you and introducing you to the Canadian wilderness and an experience you will never forget.

Guests have their own vehicle and I meet them at the trail head a short distance from the town of Baysville, Lake of Bays, Muskoka. From the location which is disclosed upon booking they follow me to the cabin where they can drive up to the front door in spring, summer and fall, or park securely at a private residence in the winter time. I am available as a guide for your stay to teach you about the area as it is remote or I can make sure you are settled in and leave you to enjoy cabin life on your own. It will be necessary to show you the ropes initially. After that the place is very comfortable. It is unlikely you will see any other people on your visit, but excellent food and the local brewery are just 15 minutes away if you so choose. I generally get my supplies and head into the woods for weeks on end. There is no hunting or use of firearms at the Cabin or on the lands around the Cabin.
