"A treehouse, a freehouse, a secret you and me house, a high up in the leafy branches, cosy as can be house" -- Shel Silverstein
The treehouse is indeed a cozy little place perched on four maples 30 feet above a blanket of ferns. Access is by a ramp 70 ft. from the main house, where you'll have a private bathroom with shower. This quiet place in the woods has heat, electricity, and a small refrigerator. The main floor has a single bed, or CLIMB THE LADDER to the loft with a queen sized futon and down comforter. Enjoy the comfy reading rocker or sit on the deck and gaze at Mt. Abraham and the Green Mountain National Forest. The hot tub is a sweet new addition to the place.
For those less adventurous, there is a guestroom in the main house with a double bed. We have no pets and are very neat and tidy but you can bring your dog if you want. All linens and little complimentary toiletries are provided, and you'll enjoy a generous continental breakfast in the sunny dining room in the morning.

We had a great weekend in the cozy tree house. Ellie and H were very welcoming hosts and were great fun to chat with. The daily breakfast is outstanding! We will definitely be back soon. Thanks! Cory & Kate
Absolutely loved staying at the tree house! Beautiful views, wonderful hosts in a unique and amazing structure!
What an absolutely lovely adventure. The tree house fit our party--two adults, one child, one dog--perfectly, with a cozy double mattress in the loft and a single bunk on the main floor. We ate dinner in Bristol, and returned to a beautiful night in the hot tub, complete with colored lights, and a relaxing evening on the porch. The host were gracious, welcoming us with wine and cheese at night and serving us a terrific breakfast in the morning, and were relaxed and available as needed. There were few bugs, beautiful flowers, a full bathroom in the main house and and outdoor shower for hot tub pre- and post-rinsing. Overall, a wonderful overnight.
Everything about this trip to the treehouse was fantastic. Book it!
Wow, this was such a special experience for my family and me! H and Ellie were amazing hosts-- wine and cheese were delicious, breakfast was incredible, but the conversations we had were the best! We were so happy and appreciative they could accommodate our stay, even though the place wasn't technically available. The tree house itself was a lot of fun-- a cozy home for a night snuggled amongst ferns and four maple trees. H's handywork and love of the craft (and love of hockey and skiing!) was apparent in its design, and fun hints of the details of their beautiful life were scattered throughout the tree house. Oh, and the hot tub was warm and welcoming under the beautiful Vermont stars. My only regret is that we couldn't stay a couple of nights longer! We had a relaxing time, and I hope we can come back. I'll be recommending this place to friends for a long time!
I had such a wonderful time surprising my boyfriend at the tree house! Ellie and H are such amazing and friendly hosts. They were welcoming from the moment we arrived. Little did I know, their house turned out to be on the same road as a monument for my boyfriend's ancestors! They were excited for him and helped him find out more about his past. After we settled in we had a wine and cheese hour (or two) with them. H made us reservations for a lovely restaurant at an inn close by- the food was delicious! Their house is a three minute drive to the bottom of Mount Abe, which was a delightful and rewarding hike. H made a breakfast spread for us before we ventured out to the mountain. Last but not least- the treehouse was more than I could have hoped for. Beautifully created and obviously decorated with care, it was such a cozy and lovely night. I cannot wait to come back!
Our stay with Ella & H was memorable and pleasant. We talked about fun experiences and people that we knew, and shared some good stories and laughs together. The treehouse was exactly as pictured and comfortable for the two of us. The breakfast we were served was delightful. Is breakfast served in three courses? I think this one was. We would definitely go back.

Ellie was a high school English teacher for 25 years and was an Associate Professor at Spalding University in the MFA Writing program. She has five books in print. We designed and built this house 12 years ago. Son Will and H built the treehouse over the course of three summers. H was also a high school teacher and retired in 2009. Your stay in the treehouse includes a generous continental breakfast, a private bath, spa privileges, and a quiet place to relax.
