"A treehouse, a freehouse, a secret you and me house, a high up in the leafy branches, cosy as can be house" -- Shel Silverstein
The treehouse is indeed a cozy little place perched on four maples 30 feet above a blanket of ferns. Access is by a ramp 70 ft. from the main house, where you'll have a private bathroom with shower. This quiet place in the woods has heat, electricity, and a small refrigerator. The main floor has a single bed, or CLIMB THE LADDER to the loft with a queen sized futon and down comforter. Enjoy the comfy reading rocker or sit on the deck and gaze at Mt. Abraham and the Green Mountain National Forest. The hot tub is a sweet new addition to the place.
For those less adventurous, there is a guestroom in the main house with a double bed. We have no pets and are very neat and tidy but you can bring your dog if you want. All linens and little complimentary toiletries are provided, and you'll enjoy a generous continental breakfast in the sunny dining room in the morning.

Everything about this trip to the treehouse was fantastic. Book it!
Wow, this was such a special experience for my family and me! H and Ellie were amazing hosts-- wine and cheese were delicious, breakfast was incredible, but the conversations we had were the best! We were so happy and appreciative they could accommodate our stay, even though the place wasn't technically available. The tree house itself was a lot of fun-- a cozy home for a night snuggled amongst ferns and four maple trees. H's handywork and love of the craft (and love of hockey and skiing!) was apparent in its design, and fun hints of the details of their beautiful life were scattered throughout the tree house. Oh, and the hot tub was warm and welcoming under the beautiful Vermont stars. My only regret is that we couldn't stay a couple of nights longer! We had a relaxing time, and I hope we can come back. I'll be recommending this place to friends for a long time!
I had such a wonderful time surprising my boyfriend at the tree house! Ellie and H are such amazing and friendly hosts. They were welcoming from the moment we arrived. Little did I know, their house turned out to be on the same road as a monument for my boyfriend's ancestors! They were excited for him and helped him find out more about his past. After we settled in we had a wine and cheese hour (or two) with them. H made us reservations for a lovely restaurant at an inn close by- the food was delicious! Their house is a three minute drive to the bottom of Mount Abe, which was a delightful and rewarding hike. H made a breakfast spread for us before we ventured out to the mountain. Last but not least- the treehouse was more than I could have hoped for. Beautifully created and obviously decorated with care, it was such a cozy and lovely night. I cannot wait to come back!
Our stay with Ella & H was memorable and pleasant. We talked about fun experiences and people that we knew, and shared some good stories and laughs together. The treehouse was exactly as pictured and comfortable for the two of us. The breakfast we were served was delightful. Is breakfast served in three courses? I think this one was. We would definitely go back.
This was hands down our best Airbnb experience yet! The treehouse could not be cuter and it's the perfect place to unwind. The surrounding scenery is absolutely gorgeous and it's close to good hiking, restaurants, shops and cafes.
But what really makes this place special are the hosts, Ellie and H. They truly love welcoming people in their home and treated us to the best conversation and the most delicious breakfasts. Their kindness and energy is contagious, and they are what the Airbnb community is all about. We hope to be back many more times :)
My girlfriend and I had such a wonderful time in the treehouse. We were hoping to get away from the city and this provided a fully immersed escape in the woods. Ellie and H were both incredible hosts -- the conversations were delightful and they were so helpful with suggestions of what to do and where to go. The breakfast was a full Vermont feast with its yogurt, berries, eggs, waffles, syrup, watermelon, grapefruit, fresh juice, coffee, locally made muffins and so much more. Thank you for being such incredible hosts and we hope to be back soon!
I had such an incredible stay (one of the more memorable weekends of my life) at H and Ellie's Tiny Fern Forest Treehouse. Not only is the treehouse exquisite (and insanely cozy), but H and Ellie were two of the kindest, most hospitable hosts I have ever stayed with. My boyfriend I were warmly greeted as we pulled into the driveway, and we were offered wine and cheese that evening with an opportunity to sit down and get to know H and Ellie (two lovely, brilliant, creative artists). As if that wasn't enough and to top it all off, we were fed a beautiful breakfast (waffles, fresh berries, yogurt, homemade granola, and fresh coffee, tea, and juice). We were in absolute awe. We spent our time exploring their beautiful property, cozying up in the treehouse playing board games, dining at the Bobcat Cafe (awesome brewery pub), and soaking in a bubbling hot tub under the stars. It was a weekend to remember, and we can't wait to be back.

Ellie was a high school English teacher for 25 years and was an Associate Professor at Spalding University in the MFA Writing program. She has five books in print. We designed and built this house 12 years ago. Son Will and H built the treehouse over the course of three summers. H was also a high school teacher and retired in 2009. Your stay in the treehouse includes a generous continental breakfast, a private bath, spa privileges, and a quiet place to relax.
