For almost 10 years I've lived and worked in Aboriginal Communities in Western Australia's Pilbara and the top end of the Tanami Desert. For just over 5 years I was privileged to spend my time on a remote island community called Milingimbi (500km East of Darwin facing the Arafura Sea) where I managed the Milingimbi Art and Culture Centre. My love and passion for Aboriginal Culture, its People and its beautiful art will always be with me - regardless of where I call home.
I have three adult children, 6 grand-children who have made my life complete. My home at Point Vernon is only meters from the ocean. It is my sanctuary - a reflection of me and my life's experiences, artworks I gathered, some I've made myself, my photographs, artifacts - treasured memories.
Almost 3 years ago, I relocated to the Northern Territory, to Humpty Doo, surrounded by a tropical paradise.
The bird life here is amazing, at times its like living inside a nature reserve. There's a resident family of Orange Footed Scrub Foul and often sighted a beautiful little Rainbow Pita. Kangaroos will greet you as you enter the cul-de-sac.
You will be made very welcome and I look forward to long chats on the verandah, with pool views, drinking good coffee or even a red or two. If it is peace and quiet you need then I completely understand that too. The space where you will stay is designed with this in mind.
I look forward to meeting new people, developing networks, exchanging knowledge and experience. Ganma is a Yolngu word used in NE Arhnem Land meaning “a place where saltwater and freshwater comes together, the brackish waters where the best of two worlds merge”. This 'coming together' occurs in my home too where some long lasting friendships have been made through AirBnB.
I've had some wonderful experiences meeting travelers from all parts of the world who were open and warm; a bird enthusiast; photo journalist from National Geographic; honeymooners; guests from Germany, New York, Paris, Rome, United States and Switzerland.
I am proud of what I offer my guests. My approach is to present my guests with a standard I would expect for myself - nothing less.
