"This is about 200 years old traditional Kyoto house. We didn't renovate as a hotel. It's a *real* old house and everything is old. If you like Japanese old style with tatami and indoor garden this house is for you. It is not good for older people, stairs are narrow with no railing. There are 2 rooms on mezzanine floor and we have clothes washer etc. An electricity bill is necessary for stays more than 6 days. Finally, please don't make a reservation if you don't understand home-staying.

Riko was an amazing Host! She helped my daughter while traveling in the area - picking her up, lending her a bike, arranging for meals...it was a wonderful travel experience in a traditional home !

Riko's place is not far from a subway station which made it easy to get to. Everything is easy to understand, even for people who don't speak Japanese. Riko was a very welcoming host. If you are very tall it might be good to tell Riko before you go because some rooms have very…

Riko was there at check in to give us a tour of the space. Different parts of the house’s ceiling was low, (I’m short and I still managed to bump my head a couple of times) but we were forewarned during the tour.
